I tried that site, when I click OK to do the transfer nothing happens. Maybe the site is not working?

I would try AIS mobile app first. If you are on a pc then try another browser.

You can use one of the orange Boonterm machines you see all over the place, including outside just about every 7-Eleven. They have a touch screen and an English menu.

You select top-up, choose the amount, enter the phone number and put in cash.

Phone is credited instantly. There is a small fee if you top up under 100 baht. No fee if the top-up is 100 baht or more. Take a few coins as change isn't given.

closest one is an hour's drive away

Alright, then you'll have these orange machines in front of a local shop, or 7 Eleven, right?

It's pretty easy, just tried that for the first time a week ago.

It's got an English menu and it's very easy to use.

Hardly a populated area without one or more.

Sometimes different makes (green or so).

Trust me it is an hour either direction from my house to a main highway. There are some small villages but no ATM's except one that doesn't ever work. All mountains in every direction.

It's all done now anyways.

Edit Oh I see my mistake you meant the top up machines. Yes I am an idiot I forgot about those

Guess he meant these orange/green machines, not ATM's....

Sure, orange machines.

Of course not ATMs at every corner. We have one ATM in a radius of 14 km or so.

From the phone:

It would be so easy with prepaid 12call but I don't know how it could work with postpaid.

  • 3 weeks later...

You can do a balance transfer between AIS accounts/phones by dialing *140 on an AIS phone and following the instructions.  There is a small fee for the service but easy to do.

My Kasikorn bank app allows easy phone top ups and you can send to any phone number.

Note you can also do validity transfers which is handy for people who want to keep their number but out of the country for extended periods.  Residents who top up regularly have no issues with validity and can transfer without any concerns.  Again, there is a small fee to do this.
