If they could stop a 3rd of them deaths imagine how much money they would save at the hospitals

Enough to rescind the punitive, compulsory insurance being foisted on old foreigners?

none of the above accounts for a complete lack of common sense and driving / riding like an idiot, I've watched dogs interacting with the traffic and showing more sense than a lot of Thai's.  .

You've watched more dogs than Thais then.

One cannot entirely blame the police for what's happening on Thailand's roads. its the Thai poor mentality that's the problem,

1   They cannot identify a Hazard in front of them, and begin to slow before reaching it.

2   They want to go where they are going regardless of other road user's.

     3   inpatient.

     4   cannot drive within roadlines.

     5   Overtake anywhere.

6   Not sure what the Brake pedals for.

7   And this list could go on and on.

As for watching more dogs than Thais - no, dogs usually have better sense than many Thai drivers / riders - so no need to pay as much attention.

So far in October 554 have died at the scene of accidents.

Every year we hear things will change, every year we hear about tackling the carnage, every year we hear about measures to reduce the death toll, every year we hear about crackdowns... every day we read about the latest figures and the governments failure to achieve anything !

They are going for the Gold medal again. This carnage isn't going to change until the Cops get of their Butt and enforce  all the traffic laws 24/7 instead of sitting on their but in a air condition office an playing with their phones.

May be I am wrong. If a large number of top people (high government officials, top big influential businessmen and families ) died in accidents it would make the government want to do something about the situation.

If ordinary people like you and me we are nothing in their eyes.

These people will never learn because they don't want to. Just keep letting someone else take care of it...
