webfact
Senior army man denies trying to murder "pretties" in their car Picture: Daily News A senior military man presented himself at the Bang Kruay police yesterday. The sergeant major denied that he shot two "pretties" in their Yaris. He claims he sold the gun used in the attack to a friend a long time ago. The development followed a story that Manasvee Singkorn and her friend had been driving on the Bang Kruay to Sai Noi Road in the early hours of Sunday morning when a person in a black pick-up fired seven shots at them. They provided police with a bullet that was lodged in their Toyota Yaris car. There were suggestions that they had been targeted in a road rage incident after using a high beam - something the driver denied saying they were the victims of a misunderstanding. Yesterday a military judge advocate took Sgt Maj 1st Class Nathee Charoenphaet, 59, to the police. He was subjected to a thirty minute grilling before being handed back to the advocate and ushered away. He refused to speak to reporters - Daily News described him as ashen faced. He has been charged with attempted murder, having a weapon in the city, firing in the city and having an illegal weapon. He denied everything saying he sold the gun used in the attack to a friend a long time ago. CCTV evidence showed a man in black at a Khao Tom restaurant near the scene of the attack getting into a black pick-up at 3.13 am on the morning of the attack, said Daily News. There have been claims made elsewhere in the Thai media - and on the Facebook page of Manasvee - that the army man will try to use his influence to escape responsibility. Thaivisa notes that the term "pretty" is a noun in Thailand denoting a lady who works as a hostess or sales representative promoting products. It does not necessarily relate to the physical appearance of the female. Whether they were using their full beams or not, what does it matter? You don't go around shooting at people. This is a complete non-issue. And as an army guy, he do not realize the importance of changing the owner name on the weapon. I guess he had the best instructor in the world, or that he´s just thick as a brick. Another assumption would of course be, that the man might be telling some lies.

LivinLOS
The article (purposefully) avoids important details like was he in the driver of the pickup on the supplied video evidence, was he at the scene, etc.. The ownership of the gun is made a big point, while so much other evidence would appear to place him as the shooter anyway.

British Bulldog
I can't believe that an Army officer sold 'a' gun to a 'friend', presumably it was an Army issued gun ? ... and he just reported it missing ?
