Charter Court rules General Prayut’s premiership legal because he is not an ‘other state official’

 

 

General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s premiership is legal under Sections 160 (6) and 98 (15) of the Constitution after the nine-member Constitution Court ruled that he is not an “other state official” (a formal technical description in Thailand) and is, therefore, qualified to hold the post of Prime Minister.

 

The charter court’s ruling was issued on September 18th, but was only published in the Royal Gazette today (October 17th).

 

The Opposition submitted a petition to the Constitutional Court, through House Speaker Chuan Leekpai, challenging the legality of General Prayut’s post-election premiership on the ground that he was also head of the junta, otherwise known as the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), at the time he was appointed Prime Minister after the March 24 general election.

The junta and the servants of the junta (plus those who pull their strings) can say anything they like, to get what the junta wants.

So they could, for example, easily say something as daft as: 'White is black. Why? Because it is only white for as long as you keep your eyes open and see that white colour. Close your eyes - and then everything becomes black'. Junta logic.

 

Equally: Prayut can be whatever they claim him to be. A state official (when it suits them). Or not a state official (again, when it suits them). Reality is utterly malleable in their hands.

 

This junta bunch truly are beyond all belief and conceiving.  The way they just speak any old nonsense to maintain the power they have grabbed is really appalling and disgraceful.

Yes, Canuckamuck: the 'Constitution' says whatever they want it to say. It is infinitely flexible. Nothing the junta ever want to do will ever be blocked by any silly, meaningless 'Constitution' (which they did not swear to uphold in any case, by the way - so no harm done!).

God will continue to strengthen u Mr.  PM. You hand work will never be forgotten we know everyone have lapses and that cannot be use to rule out all the good things that has been done, it's not a surprise to say  human being are difficult people to rule and there is nothing you can do to better them,  just try to do more good job for this nation.
