Thai caption: A legendary fraudster

A woman described as a legendary fraudster who has swindled 1,500 people out of 1.5 billion baht has been arrested.

Pariyanka, 41, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Khon Kaen court on August 14th of this year.

Claiming to be "Dr Lydia" trained in the US and working alongside her husband Chanut she set up a company called Gold Father 1978 Co. Ltd.

They managed to persuade 1,500 people that they could buy gold bars and jewelry at prices 15-20 per cent cheaper than in the shops.

Some victims transferred 100,000s of baht to their company.

Some transferred tens of millions.

The arrest warrant was issued after around 100 victims went to file complaints to the RTP, DSI, CSD and government watchdog Damrongtham between August and September this year.

Of course no way.

Like selling 1000 Baht notes with a discount.

Some people are blind from greed.

I read on another website about a recent study that half of all Thais 'live hand to mouth'. Guess that some greedy people, victims of that scam, may belong to that category now...
