A foreign man who threatened staff with a knife and stole money from a Government Savings Bank (Omsin) exchange booth in Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok, has been arrested within 48 hours of committing the crime.

The man was taken into custody at his room near the St Joseph Convent School in the Sathon area of the capital around 4.30 pm yesterday.

Thong Lor and Immigration police performed the arrest after evidence from CCTV and witnesses helped the investigation.

The foreigner - whose name and nationality was not given in the INN story - had escaped after the robbery on a motorcycle taxi.

The case follows another involving a foreigner stealing $30,000 in cash from an exchange booth in Phuket.

INN drew no connection between the two cases.
