Just where are these SIXTEEN INTERNATIONAL airports in Thailand please?

Most of the domestic airports throughout the country are regarded as "International" especially those where Air Asia offer "Fly-Thru" facilities to International destinations. My regional airports at Khon Kaen and Udon Thani are "international" in their own right. Immigration clearance for Air Asia passengers is done at these airports - TM6 processed, biometric scan (4 fingers of right hand only) and passport stamped before entering the International Departure lounge. On take-off you have technically left Thailand and at Don Meuang you are in "transit" when changing planes. If you book baggage into the hold, you collect at your International destination and on return to Thailand, you collect from the carousel in the local International Arrivals Hall. From personal experience, I know Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are also International airports.

International means they fly from there to another country. If I fly from P'lok to DM and then onto KL is it International. There are no biometric scanners or Immigration facilities at P'lok, you arrive at DM at the domestic terminal and change over to International yourself.

45,000 who overstayed in the kingdom,

Clearly, these overstayers were in the country when the system was introduced. Therefore their prints are not in the system and this is an outright lie!

Maybe the Thai people will believe this <deleted>. Surely, this comes under 'false news' and he should be prosecuted. ????

Just a matter of time before they start to demand  a DNA tests of every foreigner entering the country, a bood test on arrival. After all, every foreigner is a suspect.

Well, if they want DNA samples, we can just leave our underpants at immigration when we arrive.

It's all there ..... stool sample at the back, urine and sperm at the front and if they are lucky, maybe a bit of blood from a fart that was pushed out too hard. ????

Do you really need a biometric system to check how many overstayers are in the country???  A simple check of the  data compilation from all entry points would have found that!!!

No. But doesn’t it make them look clever.

The domestic airport is designated "International" if Air Asia offers "Fly-Thru". I have checked and Phitsanulok, although an Air Asia destination, does not have, as you quite rightly stated, Immigration facilities for "Fly-Thru". Nan and Loei are two other airports Air Asia use but no "fly-thru".

8000 at 16 airports = 500 at each, in three days = 166 per day.

Some of these 'International' airports only have a few flights a day.

Figures are wrong somehow.

where are these 16 International Airports .I can recall 6 !

Remember a few years ago they also wanted to know our favourite restaurants, bars, email addresses, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Next probably our underwear brands. They already have our wifi IPs, mobile and landline numbers, passport linked drivers licenses, cars, motorbikes, residential details. Sending something from the post office required ID too, never seen that anywhere else....I gather from some they were even asked to ID when paying bills. They even once asked me my parent's names and residences. North Korea and China must be red with envy.

Most visitors leave the odd sample or specimens already...

It's not difficult to beat a biometric fingerprint scan so yeah, DNA tests coming soon. You can buy fake biometrics off Alibaba from talented Chinese chemists. They are already selling Elite Visas ( with Biometric Scan synthetic fingertips ) along Soi Cowboy next to the boxes of Viagra. Highly recommend. Face recognition is easy enough to beat with a rhinoplasty.

DNA tests will also be simple enough to beat using CRISPR gene editing technology. Editing your DNA is not that difficult anymore and will be standard a decade from now. Don't like your height, you will be able to reprogram your DNA and be 6ft 5 if you desire. Don't like your eye color, you will be able to change it with CRISPR within 5 years? Don't want to age? You won't have to a decade from now thanks to CRISPR. Death will be obsolete in 20 years, I guarantee it. CRISPR is not that complicated. You can buy DIY Gene editing CRISPR kits off this site www.the-odin.com. I'm not even joshing, you can totally hack your DNA right now. It's really simple stuff. If you can make pancakes, you can use CRISPR. Learn about it here:

Point is, whatever, if you need to beat LE, there will always be a way.

I recommend this DIY CRISPR kit if you're bored and need an interesting hobby: http://www.the-odin.com/genetic-engineering-home-lab-kit/

Bravo! That was a great achievement. But the biometric passports are in the market for a decade and most countries are using the latest and more advanced biometric passports to catch the crooks. Then why do they need fingerprint, palm print, voice, face recognition, DNA, iris recognition, retina, signatures and etc. here? And they are also creating a very complicated process and there are too many requirements for travelers. Just the biometric passport can do a better job already.

It would seem that your passport stamps would show if you have a visa to be in the country for the length of time.  Why stamp a passport at all if the biometric system is checking entry and exit dates?

I think that the numbers are how many they have found in the system and not really how many that they have apprehend. And I also know that there are more people than that, this is because I know that my friends farmhands aren't even in the system... they didn't pass immigration when entering Thailand!

So officially not in Thailand, so not counted, cannot be overstay if not on visa

Because the bio system mainly identifies and matches whether the person really belongs to that passport ...

Don't know, I think it's a good system. Many airports have this for many years already. When entering Qatar, I got fingerprinted, in Singapore/Changi you have to scan your thumb etc.

And if you get bored standing in the Q ... you can see where people come from, based on the language switch and instructions on the display ????

All of these "headlines" are on social media.

A new tourist(Western, Chinese or Indian)thinking Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam has a choice to make.If I was a first time visitor I know where I would not choose to go! Maybe there is a good reason for the empty bars and beaches.

You wouldn't go to Thailand because of the biometric system? ????

I think you will have a hard time to go anywhere near future ... in 10 years there might be no airport left without a bio system.

Facial recognition means that if you enter/leave on a different passport with a different name they will now catch you (you can be blacklisted, go home and get a real passport in a different name, etc).

The really frightening thing is that the database that monitors foreigner movements (ie hotels submitting your details via the internet as soon as you check in) can be accessed by Mafia types if they want to find out where you are, if you have annoyed them in the past by doing stuff such as enjoying too much almost free sex.

If you don't play by the Thai rules it can quickly become a frightening place.
