Coral Reef in Khao Lam Pee-Had Thai Muang National Park

Khao Lam Pee-Had Thai Muang National Park drifted buoys along the newly discovered coral reef. The buoys were dropped to help preserve the coral reef and the new diving destination of Phang Nga province.

Mr. Wattana Pornprasertsook, the chief of Khao Lam Pee-Had Thai Muang National Park, says his national park cooperated with the International Foundation for the Conservation of Wildlife in surveying the coasts and later discovered the coral reef. The coral reef was about 2.5 kilometers in length, and it was only 500 meters away from the coast. Many types of coral were found. Besides, many marine animals such as oysters, lobsters, varieties of fish, and endangered turtles were living near the coral reef. The location helped protect the young marine animals from dangers.

Khao Lam Pee-Had Thai Muang National Park consequently organized the Coral Reef Conservation Project and dropped buoys to help protect them. Phang Nga Governor Winai Buapradit approved a budget of 1,450,000 baht for the project. The coral reef will help protect marine wildlife and it will also be a new tourist destination in Phang NGa.
