Now that Justin Trudeau has a minority government, he will likely have to curry favor with Jagmeet Singh, a fine Sikh from British Columbia and a far more colourful character than JT.

A minority government means he can only do what the other parties will allow, One vote of no confidence and he is gone. Also I believe the term limit is 2 years for a minority gov. But often it doesn't even last that long usually, if the other parties think they can gain some ground in a new election. Basically he lost some of his power and will soon lose it all, unless he can avoid more scandals. Not likely. The conservatives need to improve their image quick and probably get some one else to lead.

What do you man by "Also I believe the term limit is 2 years for a minority gov." If by that you mean it's the law, no it's not. The Conservative government that was in power from 2006-2011 was also a minority government.  So not only can minority governments be long-lived, they can also be very effective:

"Despite its multiparty system, Canada has only ever elected Liberal and Conservative governments at the federal level. However, many of the most progressive policies—such as public pension plans, marriage equality, and universal single-payer health care—have passed in minority parliaments where the Liberals were under pressure from the left. As election polls showed a tightening race in the waning days of the campaign, many progressives began openly hoping for just such a scenario, with the NDP taking up its traditional third-place role as the “conscience of Parliament.”

And given that the NDP is financially depleted, I don't think they are looking forward to a new election any times soon.

Trudeau will enact most of the above. The good thing he's done is rationalise some drug laws and thus set an example to the world. Decent Canadians no long live in fear of para military police anti drug thugs
