webfact
Tourism excitement as temperatures hit 6C on Doi Inthanon Thai caption: It's now cold in the mountains Sanook painted a rosy picture for tourism in the north of Thailand saying that excitement was mounting as the cool season had arrived and temperatures were plummeting. Now the rains are all but over the tourists are expected to visit the north in droves enjoying cooler weather on the plains and especially cool in the hills. Thailand's tallest peak is Doi Inthanon at 2,565 meters. A temperature of 6 degrees celsius was recorded there though the visitor center was still 15 degrees. Sanook said the morning temperature on the plains of the north was 20-22C. Many locals drive up the mountain, to crash on the way back down (half frozen roads), just to see it. People in Buffalo, NY (USA) don't drive anywhere to see snow. They have home delivery. Where I live in Virginia, we don't get very much snow. One day we got about 40 cm. A bit north of us, they got 75 cm. Temperature can occasionally hit 40C in the summer and -15C in the winter. My imported Thai relatives enjoy a bit of snow.
