The Thailand Meteorological Department on Thursday (October 24) forecast warmer temperatures, morning fog and possible light rain in upper Thailand and the Northeast while the Central area and the East would also see light showers.

The department attributed the weather conditions to the weak high pressure system over the North, the Northeast and the South China Sea. Meanwhile, the weak northeast monsoon prevails across the Gulf of Thailand and the South with isolated heavy rain over the South and weakening wind across the lower Gulf. People in the south should beware of severe weather than could cause flash flood and water runoff.

The department warns that the Category 5 Typhoon Bualoi in the East Pacific was moving north and affect Eastern Japan and advised those travelling there to be cautious and listen to weather updates. The storm would not affect Thailand.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Cool weather and fog in the morning, cold weather on mountaintops, thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area, temperature lows of 20-24 degrees and highs of 33-36 degree Celsius.

Northeastern region: Cool weather and fog in the morning, cold weather on mountaintops, temperatures lows 21-24 degrees and highs of 34-36 degree Celsius.

Central region: Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area; lows 23-26 degrees, highs 35-37degrees Celsius.

Eastern region: Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area; lows 24-26 degrees, highs 34-37degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre.

Southern region (east coast): Cloudy with thunder showers and heavy rains in 60 per cent of the area; lows of 23-25degrees, high 22-36 degrees Celsius; wave height 1-2 metres, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

Southern region (west coast): Cloudy with thunder showers and heavy rains in 40 per cent of the area; lows 23-25 degrees, highs 34-37 degree Celsius; wave height 1metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.

Normal pattern for this time of year then?
