geovalin
PHNOM PENH, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian authorities have arrested two Thai women with 27.3 kilograms of illicit drugs, the National Police reported on Friday. Wipa Prachamon, 30, and Supharporn Savaengphol, 37, were arrested with the drugs, known as crystal methamphetamine, by customs officers at the Siem Reap International Airport late on Thursday when they checked in for a flight to Manila, the Philippines. "A total of 27 packages of the drugs, packed in aluminum foil and wrapped in sticky tape, were seized from the two suspects," the Police said. It was the second remarkable drug bust this week. On Monday, police in central Kampong Thom province arrested four people-three local men and one Thai man-when they were transporting crystal methamphetamine from neighboring Thailand to Cambodia. Police seized a total of 93 kg of the drugs. Cambodia has no death sentence for illicit drug traffickers. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drug could be jailed for life. According to the anti-drug department, Cambodia nabbed 15,144 drug suspects, including 324 foreigners in 12 nationalities, during the first nine months of 2019, seizing over 405 kilograms of illicit drugs. http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2019-10/25/c_138502514.htm

Oh I think these 2 took it to another level way pass the dumb and dumber. 27 kg is pretty much suitcase full with nothing else in it and to top it up the foil. As if it is well concealed and will not be found lucky they got done in Cambodia , if done in Manila would have been shot in the head on the spot

But meth is a nasty drug that doesn't only cause problems for the user, but also for the family of the user and other people who happen to get in the way. I would feel safer if the stuff was given away free. I believe thailand is thinking of legalizing it because they dont have the prison space, and its common worldwide so criminalizing it obviously isnt a working method to try and stop people using it, and as you mention, the spanish (or maybe it was portuguese) model, and legalizing weed in the US, seems to be reducing use. theres no reason to think it wouldnt be the same with other drugs

In my opinion prohibition cause more harm then good. Ever tried shooting alcohol? It would cause a lot of harm too yet probably some would try if alcohol was illegal and only available in tiny amount.

I dont shoot anything and arent too knowledgable about it, but as far as I know its probably not really an issue if you dont overdose and its not cut with something toxic. I think it would increase risk of overdose and like you said it could contain contaminant if produced illegally. Since it's legal there is no reason to use it this way. Amphetamine and methamphetamine is prescribed as oral pills which is safer than the way user prefer using it illegaly: injection, snorting and smoking. The drug is so cheap to produce that the buyer doesn't need to pay if the delivery fails: https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/meth-syndicate/
