I have a hard time believing all this scaremongering....

Why it is a scientific fact that Bangkok is sinking at 5 cm per year due to water extraction and the soil type the city is build on. It was a delta before and Swampy was build on a swamp. Google and learn.

So land sinking, not sea level rising. We’ve seen this in some other areas of the world where they build a big city and pump the aquifer and wonder why the city starts to sink.

Venice Italy had the same problem. They’d been pumping water from under the city and in the surrounding area for many, many years, and the city started sinking. (“It’s SEA LEVEL RISE !!!”) 5555????

And then Venice finally outlawed pumping any more water out from the aquifer under the ground. I guess it’s slowly beginning to refill. Not sure. Hope so.

It is not at the same level as 1990. After the beginning of industrialisation, sea levels started to raise slowly.

From 1880 until today average sea levels raised by 25 cm, of that by 10 cm since 1990.

We know now, that the increase is growing exponentially, not evenly. And the predictions are still not precise but they are getting more precise with every year.

Another thing, the increase is not distributed evenly around the globe. Some cities such as Jakarta are already highly affected. Go there and watch the 1.60 m waterwalls they build. The water is a few cm below the top, of course which is partially because Jakarta is sinking.

Bangkok had far lesser floods in 1995, the first year I came for business. Scientists universally agree that Asia will be most affected.

It is allegedly rising about an inch every 8 years. I do not personally think these measurements are getting any more accurate. What made you say that? Truth is, we are not very good at predicting or measuring these things. I know we all like to tell ourselves otherwise.

The guy who sounded like he was half drunk was probably correct in my opinion. Things like this happen very "slowly", even if you assume human acceleration. We live under 100 years, so we base "slowly" off that number, but really major changes only happen on times scales in 10 or even 100's of thousands of years.

The drunk guy was right, I would say infrastructure would be able to  effectively counteract levels we are currently experiencing.

Whatever the facts it's a fair bet that no poster here is going to be effected by this so why worry.

On the other hand, if an errant asteroid should crash into the gulf of Thailand it seems only probable

that those imbibing in Nana will have time for an extra drink before the tsunami hits.

Sorry but global warming is a hoax. I've been reading about all the ice bergs being produced north and south poles. Not global warming. Research your stories

Well, actually the planet HAS warmed about 1 degree C since the end of the Little Ice Age (circa 1300 c.e. - 1850 c.e.)

So it’s been a nice, welcome, beneficial bit of warming.

The reason I say that is because the L.I.A. was a very unpleasant time. Particularly in Europe, parts of Asia, North America.

Longer, colder more bitter winters. Shorter growing seasons, failed harvests and famine.

Not sure why anyone would want to go back to that.

One third of Netherlands are below water level. Boating is not the common way of transportation there but kept for fun. Keep cool and do not panic. There guys have predicted the world to colapse should Sadam Hussain put the oil fileds on fire. We all know he did and nothing happened.

All you non-believers-science deniers, those not so handy with a ruler.  It's not hard to predict, coastal land is disappearing at a rapid rate worldwide. Average sea levels have swelled over 8 inches (about 23 cm) since 1880, with about three of those inches gained in the last 25 years. Every year, the sea rises another .13 inches (3.2 mm).- National Geographic. Fake news huh?

No need to worry, the human race will be extinct in less than ten years, probably less than five.

Do you know something that we don't ?

Well, i think you are exaggerating a bit, even in the case of a major catastrophe, surely some would survive.

I am not exaggerating because this is not my opinion. It is in fact a theory supported by peer reviewed scientific evidence. You choose not to believe the science based on your unsubstantiated opinion, as you are free to do. But no ones opinion counts for much when weighed against empirical scientific evidence. Believe what you like, it's too late to do anything about it anyway.

Any link of this scientific evidence of the human race being extincted in 5/10 years ?

You laugh now out of ignorance but Mother Nature will school you before long. We'll see if your still laughing.

No, I laugh out of knowledge. You make claims out of ignorance. Obviously you have not read all the posts in this thread.

But here is your horrible sea level rise. Look at the photos. And then go back and look at the posts about all the failed Alarmist predictions.

And all the Alarmist “scientists” have made failed prediction after failed prediction after failed prediction now for more than fifty years.

But you want us to shut down our common sense and nod our heads and say “We believe...we believe you. We’re scared and alarmed. Let’s tear down capitalism. Socialism will save us.”

uhhh.....sure ????????
