FracturedRabbit Posted November 5, 2019 Share Posted November 5, 2019 Completed a settlement application for my wife, paid all the fees, and booked a date with VFS to submit the documents. Her TB certificate expires a week before our intended date of travel and the intention was to go and get a new certificate before heading to VFS. Now we have been told that we can only request a new TB certificate a month before the old one expires... The obvious option is to cancel the application and hope all the many fees are refunded, and then start over with a revised travel date which is earlier than we would wish to travel, but which is within the existing TB certificate validity. Hope that the visa is approved and arrive in the UK with a current TB certificate Somehow arrange for the requested travel date to be changed on the current application. Tony M Posted November 5, 2019 Share Posted November 5, 2019 If the TB certificate was valid when your submitted the application, then you are okay. It doesn't have to be valid when you arrive in the UK. The Immigration Rules are quite clear: A39. Any person making an application for entry clearance to come to the UK for more than six months or as a fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner applying for leave to enter under Section EC-P:Entry clearance as a partner under Appendix FM, having been present in a country listed in Appendix T for more than six months immediately prior to their application, must present, at the time of application, a valid medical certificate issued by a medical practitioner approved by the Secretary of State for these purposes, as listed on the Gov.uk website, confirming that they have undergone screening for active pulmonary tuberculosis and that this tuberculosis is not present in the applicant. ( we visit the UK twice a yr for about 3 weeks with our son) Its been a while since we last completed an application and having read the requirements not sure if she needs to do it or not? 'You’ll need to have a tuberculosis (TB) test if you’re coming to the UK for more than 6 months and are resident in any of these listed countries.'
