A student human rights advocacy group in Thailand’s Deep South, PerMAS, has called on the Government to stop arming civilians and to stop dragging them into the armed conflict between government officials and southern insurgents.

In a statement issued today (Thursday), the group called on the “Thai state” to reconsider its policy of arming civilians, like village defence volunteers, to fight the insurgents and to not engage the civilian population in the armed conflict.

PerMAS urged the Government and the insurgent groups to obey international humanitarian laws and to return to the negotiating table to settle their conflict by peaceful means.

oh yeah? so Muslim terrorists can have guns, but civilians who die because of terrorists attacks, cant?

this is what terrorists would dream of!

and this is what terrorist-supporting Muslim organization PerMAS demands. why dont they tell where do they get money from? Malaysia? Saudi Arabia? Qatar? Al Qaeda?

no state should negotiate with terrorists. all terrorists should and will be executed.

and organizations like PerMAS, financed by foreign religious extremists, should be banned.

send Thai Muslim extremists to reeducation camps in China. Chinese will adjust their attitude quickly.

The Thai army should be in this region with huge numbers and real military equipment.

Giving Somchai from the rice field an M16, then a crash course in shooting people, is not the way. We all know that! The military leaders are cowards....protecting their precious military machinery and soldiers to serve BKK

no, we dont. decent law-abiding civilians should have a right and possibility to defend themselves.

only terrorists should have no rights at all.

Those of us from the UK are very well aware of what happens when civilians are armed up and take action to defend themselves and their rights. 30 of bloody strife that almost amounted to a civil war in Northern Island.

It is the duty and responsibility of the police and the army to defend civilians and to act against these insurgent forces, not 'volunteer civilians'. Decent law-abiding civilians should NOT become embroiled in this conflict.

As a note to history, British armed forces successfully quelled a militant insurgency just to the south of here, in Malaysia, without using 'armed civilian volunteers.' And they were operating in an unfamiliar environment some 7,000 miles from home.

decent civilians should have a right to defend themselves. because you can't put a soldier with a gun next any any civilian.

they did that when British empire was number one in the world and there were no international leftist bureaucracy, the UN, tribunal in Hague - so british soldier were able to do whatever they wanted to defeat Muslim extremists.

for example, Americans in Philippines cover dead bodies of muslim terrorists in pork skin. Islam says shahids will not go to paradise if they are buried like that. and terrorism in Philippines ceased

now this maneuver would be called intolerant, cruel and politically incorrect.

now hands of official armies of sovereign states are tied by leftist organizations defending terrorists (which were founded by the USSR in order to destroy capitalist world), that's why countries have to use private military companies or arm civilians to defend themselves from terrorists

Don't bother.

You're talking to a "Red Gaur".

Yes I know, but thanks for the advice.

The 51 'like' and 'thanks' tags that I got when I spoke out on this matter on Wednesday well and truly trumps the 'Red Gaur's  very flawed diatribes. I'll leave it at that.

Another flawed Army plan:

January 2019

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/breakingnews/30362720

The Army plans to have some of its soldiers ordained into the monkhood and assigned to posts in temples, Commander in Chief General Apirat Kongsompong said on Tuesday.

Having soldiers as monks in temples will create confidence and ease concerns among the public and other monks over their safety. Apirat said soldiers will join the plan voluntarily.
