Photo: Phuket City Police PHUKET: A 72-year-old German expat was left bound with tape and suffered a 12-centimetre knife wound to his left arm as two men armed with long knives robbed his house yesterday evening (Nov 7), making off with ATM cards and later withdrawing only B5,100 before the cards were cancelled. dcsw53
As usual the reporting of this is poor, the story raises twice as many questions as the answers it gives. Did they break in, or did he open the door ? Were they wearing masks, can they be identified ? Why did they flee through the back of the house ? Seems a lot of risk for a THB 5000 reward. Should be 10 years inside for stupidity and 6 months for the crime

Rimmer
One hopes the ATM they used to withdraw B5,100 will have taken a nice picture of at least one of the robbers.

Thank the woman on her return or this could of had a far more serious outcome. Thai families have been murdered for a lot less with that type of crime (think I read 100,000baht then killed the family). All expats have that target on their backs now. That will mean the robbers will have to demand your atm code in english, which means they lose face as they have limited language skills. They would rather go to the next target and get 799.000 baht less than lose face.

Really not true: Quote VIOLENT crime against the elderly has rocketed to record levels in Britain. Shocking statistics uncovered by the Daily Express show the number of over-65s subjected to assaults has soared by nearly 260 per cent in the past 10 years. And that's just the UK!
