For U.S. diplomats, public impeachment hearings could be catharsis and maybe a circus

It certainly doesnt show his supporters in a great light to vote for an ‘incompetent idiot’

The Donald is the 5th occupier of the White House not elected by the majority of American voters. Hillary won the popular vote thus recorded by history. I refrain from name calling (“idiot”) but he is a person clearly out of his depth and is ignorant of the role in which he finds himself.

Didn’t beat the popular vote against Hillary. Probably a one hit wonder. Four years of exposing him as a incompetent idiot and this impeachment will display to the public that he is immensely corrupt. 2020 will be his Waterloo.

Trump was sly.  Unlike Hillary, he KNEW it was the electoral vote that counted, not the popular vote.  He wisely kept this to himself during the debates,

BTW, I learned in fifth grade it was the electoral vote that counted.  For years I thought everyone knew.  Guess not.

I was under the impression that the office of POTUS was done by the Electoral College and not by the voters directly.

https://www.clearias.com/election-process-of-us-president/

The US President and Vice President are not elected directly by the people. Instead, they are chosen by “electors” through a process called the “Electoral College”.

The election process of US President can be consolidated into five steps –

Step 1: Primaries and Caucuses,

Step 2: National Conventions, Step

3: Election Campaigning,

Step 4: General Election, and

Step 5: Electoral College.

Semantics. Like the 'popular vote' hair split.

The people got the president they voted for deserved.

It's the electoral vote that counts, not the popular vote.  A lot of people knew this before the election

This so-called impeachment hearings are a complete sham and a hoax.  It is only being fueled by the deep state and their propaganda machine...the Main Stream Media.  All lies.  All fake.

This will end worse than the Mueller Report.  Given how bad his public testimony was, the Democrats are doing everything against the standard protocol, laws and procedures to prevent public testimonies that will hurt their false narrative.

Notice how the Russian Collusion talk has been silent?  No more talk of Russian Collusion impeachment? Why no more talk about it?

The medias lies are pure insanity.  Facebook is shutting down conservatives accounts, googles altering conservative searches, and so on.

The media corruption, has been, and will be completely exposed along with all the other corruption, sedition, treason and sadly, a lot worse...

The Deep State is in a panic right now.  This is why Adam Schiff has been holding closed, secret meetings in the basement of the House....trying like heck to orchestrate an impeachment asap.  As the Dems have said publicly, we have to impeach Trump before 2020 because they know they can't beat him.

As a friend in Military Intelligence said....the pain is coming to these corrupt, treasonous, folks.  It will be in waves and very painful!   And wait until you see what their connections are to Jeffrey Epstein!  Epstein and some other extremely bad things will be brought into the light...

Wait until you see the insane amounts of money that have been stolen from the American taxpayers through their corruption and treason...  They have sold America to the highest bidders.

Get your popcorn ready.

I think that is a great plan just as long as Trump also testifies publicly too. Without the protection of his lawyer and waiving his POTUS immunity.

@dundee48  You posted a confused icon. What is so confusing?

If the Republicans want Schiff to testify publicly then Trump should also testify publicly to explain his side of the story. That is what is called democracy. Trump should not need the protection of his office but he should testify.

So far in all of the hearings there have been Republicans on the committee and surely they have reported back to the GOP what has been going on.

There are apparently 6 different committees involved in the enquiry.

Well yes, presidents push agendas that benefit them politically. I'm surprised that you're surprised by this.

But not via private agents working on their behalf - as Giuliani has said he is - rather than on behalf of the US government. And I'm not surprised that this legal nicety has escaped your attention.

Rarely, I have to agree with you. "Trump was sly". Very sly but no genius, not even smart !

"On the whole" ,another presumably opinionated individual ,sounds like a career holdover who doesn't like the POTUS

While the hearings will give the diplomats a direct channel to Americans, some colleagues worry they will also be subject to brutal questioning in the room and vicious attacks outside by Trump allies looking to undermine their credibility.

If they are willing to testify honestly with first hand knowledge of the transcript between Trump , Prez Z. and everything Ukrainiangate, they should be held to the wall!

The GOP McCarthy said on Fox news this is a coup!  The President said this is a hoax,. Sen Linsay Graham said that without due process for the POTUS this is all a sham and it lacks precedence according to the other two previous impeachments where the WH had representation in the proceedings, it will be dead on arrival in the senate he said.

That's from the Anonymous author.  No credibility whatsoever.

Fire and Fury

Fear

even Unhinged

At first, Always the attacks, the denials, its all lies, and then, EVERY LAST BIT OF IT IS PROVEN TRUE. My favorite, Commander and Cheat - How Trump plays Golf. He is a lot more out in the open and candid about just who and what he is about on the links.

He is who we thought he was - an updated version of the old Dennis Green rant. But you hold on to the;  "That's from the Anonymous author.  No credibility whatsoever". Basically in three to six months and it will be confirmed as FACT and we will know who said it. Just like every other book on POTUS.

Back to your deflecting, I would expect no less. The Dumpster fire that is the Trump Presidency. must be denied.

I've said it long ago and now I'm repeating myself.  Schiff will not allow the whistle blower to testify because it would be absolutely damning to their sham inquiry.

Any of the so called sharp knives in the drawer here want to comment on why Schiff will not allow his testimony?  And do come up with some plausible reasons.  Schiff's assertion that it's for his protection isn't a plausible explanation but rather Schiff's official excuse.

What is Schiff hiding?

The entire Get Trump effort, including this "impeachment inquiry," is a result of the Trump haters refusing to accept the results of the 2016 election.  Trump won that election fair and square as the Mueller report proved.

Trump will not be removed from office and he will be re-elected in 2020.  As Nancy Pelosi once said, you can take that to the bank.

Given that most of the whistleblower's report has already been confirmed, what exactly would be the point of his testifying?

Fox and Right wing Myths.

I know no one that doubts he won. Granted he did it by electoral college not popular vote but no one doubts that. That is just one of many things Republicans use to deflect with when confronted with the many insane & illegal activities Trump does everyday. Like what we just saw with Syria. Get a dictator on the phone and he goes belly up. The turks and Russia must love

Sadly, I actually enjoy watching the Republican party defend him. They smear themselves with tar which will take decades to clean out. I doubt they will try. It's their true inner nature revealed for all to see.

Games on need popcorn

Ask jim jordan, he said the wb only had hearsay evidence so was irrelevant. Has he changed his mind and now thinks his evidence is crucial?

just what evidence can the wb give that has not been already given with witnesses with direct knowledge.

perhaps you should ask why pompeo, mulvaney, bolton refuse to give evidence to help trump. What are they hiding?
