Aconatic Smart tv sound

I have used an aconatic smart tv for the last year or so. It runs 2 apps fine but for the mobdro app I have to use an android tv box via hdmi then it runs ok.This morning on start up the volume goes haywire steadily increasing to maximum wheter using smart tv or the box. It does not now respond to the remote volume adjustment or the remote  sound x cut off. There does not seem to be a setting I can adjust. Baffled. Any ideas ?

Tried the old switch off for a while then when on works ! the wonders of technology.

 

AARGH spoke too soon - it worked  for 5 mins then silent for 5 mins then steadily increasing to maximum
