riskfreezone
Hi, Is a border run with non/O immigrant visa at Chong Chom / Osmach Border in Surin Province still easy, (walking to Cambodia and back)? Thaivisa forum gets so huge that I couldn't find a definite answer... (my last border run was 8 years ago, and I came back to Europe for 6 months last year, now back to one year multiple entry visa...) Thanks in advance, Stef
Popular Post gregsmithy
Did this last week no problems at all. I'm lazy so used the Cambodian touts that hang around just over the border to fill in the paperwork Cambodian visa tm6 etc and tipped him 200bt. If you want to do it all yourself it will be no problem. They will just walk away no hassles. The current costs are 1500 for visa and 300 for quick turn around. However the Cambodian IO on entry insisted on 1800 and would not budge so for the sake of 300bt I just paid up and then had to pay the guy doing the exit stamp another 300. Still cheaper than staying a night so it was worth it.

Popular Post Mutt Daeng
I was there about a month ago on a Sunday. Cambodian Visa was 1500 baht and fee to return straight away was 300 baht. Quick and easy.
Popular Post Peter Denis
For info > I live near SiSaKet, and in Feb and April this year (when still on METV) I did a border-run at Choam / SaNgam border-crossing. No fee charged for entering/going back. Visa cost was 30 US $, but Euro and THB were accepted. As I did not had US $ with me, paid 1200 THB then (which at that time was an expensive but still reasonable exchange rate). It is posted that you should provide 2 pass-photos for the cambodian Visa, but last time entering not required anymore. On the cambodian site there are a few shops selling nice and ultra-cheap woodwork. You can also buy cigarettes from several known brands at 10 THB (!!!) per package. I don't smoke but my son bought 2 slofs (20 packages) for 200 THB, and claimed they were real good. Very quiet border-crossing - really in the middle of nowhere - and friendly IOs both at thai and cambodian site. Note: Anlong Veng is 5 km from the border, nothing to do there and only claim for fame it that it is the place where Pol Pot was buried. Don't want to see that even if they paid me, but people who did say it's a small and shabby grave, and that - amazing Thailand - there are people visiting it for 'good luck'. Ban Phu Nam Ron (Kanchanaburi) has a well organised scam which cannot be circumvented. The 960 baht includes US$10 for the Myanmar border pass, and what should be less than 100 baht for the round trip to and from Myanmar immigration. The remainder (500+ baht) is split by those running this scam. That does not mean I am recommending that people not use Ban Phu Nam Ron. However, if you are making a special trip there to avoid the scams at Cambodian border crossings, you do not understand what is happening. In fact, at most crossings to Cambodia, I can get the correct price on the visa, and often avoid the charge for same day return. If looking for a scam free border crossing (and one that is very cheap) Maesot is my first choice and Maesai is also OK. 2

It is not a scam, it is the price that they ask to stamp a passport, and i don't even have to ride the van ! And officials at this border are the most friendly ever met. anyway it's only 960 when khmer visa is already more than this and i clearly do not believe that you do not pay more than needed because only dixxheads run Cambodian borders, so except if you spend hours bargaining for $10, and even, you will pay what they want.

Almost all land crossings are good for visa exempt entry as long as you do not already have two visa exempt entries by land in the current calendar year. Avoid Poipet/Aran (from Cambodia) and Padang Besar (from Malaysia). 1
