The employer of Buri Ram native Somsak Kromtaisong in Japan arranged for his funeral on Tuesday (November 12), Labour Ministry permanent secretary Suthi Sukosol reported on Thursday.

Somsak died on November 2 from pyelonephritis, a kidney inflammation usually attributed to bacterial infection.

Suthi said relatives and friends attended the funeral, as did Saichon Akanitvong, a counsellor with the Thai Office of Labour Affairs in Japan.

“The employer paid for all administrative expenses and will have his employee’s remains delivered to the family in Thailand,” he said.

The family will also receive 250,000 yen (Bt65,000) in wages owed to Somsak. “The employer is in touch with Somsak’s daughter to prepare the documents for transferring the money,” Suthi said.

The Office of Labour Affairs had made arrangements with the employer to provide the family with all legally entitled benefits.

Ministry officials stationed in Buri Ram will deliver condolences to the family in person.
