Naew Na and immigration once again hailed the "wonderful" biometrics technology for enabling them to arrest a lawbreaker.

This time it was not a foreigner who was stopped but a Thai who underestimated the power of the 2 billion baht biometric technology.

A vinyl board and deputy chief Pol Maj-Gen Chuchart Thareechat and his men at immigration yesterday explained how Arthit, 26 was arrested.

Officers at the Friendship Bridge 1 between Thailand and Laos became suspicious on November 5th when a man using a Thai ID card in the name of Sanya tried to leave the country with temporary papers.

Biometrics was used and the facial recognition technology identified that Sanya and the man claiming to be him didn't match.

The holder of the ID had to admit that Sanya was his mate.

He said he was Arthit and that he had lost his own ID and used his friend's ID to get papers to cross over.

He was due to meet someone near the border who had some goods for him.

Naew Na called the biometrics technology wonderful in their headline.

Last week the Biometrics costed 4 million baht; this weeks special is 2 million baht wow and catch one Thai with it, that's cost effective.

Reread the OP. It's 2 Billion, that's with a "B". Don't know if it was millions or billions last week...
