Kind hearted or barking? Thai man offers to sell his kidney to feed his pets

Thai Rath went to visit a Thai man in the Phop Phra district of Tak in Thailand's north west after he went on Facebook offering to sell his kidney.

He said he needed money to feed his pets - 100 dogs and cats.

Reporters found a dilapidated house on five rai of land - the house and garden was teeming with dogs and cats.

Preecha Khwanmongkhon, 58, said that he had no food left for his menagerie - all that remained was some weak vegetable broth.

He said for twenty years he had been a credit officer in the loan department of a bank. He only had a few pets then but people kept giving him more and more till he had 140.

Unable to care for them while at work, he gave up his job before he was due to retire. He then borrowed money for dog and cat food and even mortgaged his house to pay for it all.

He sold electrical items in the market to try and make ends meet.

He said that these days he only had 100 pets left because 40 had died from starvation.

He thought it was a good idea to sell one of his kidneys as it was a win-win arrangement.

Someone on dialysis would be happy and his dogs and cats would get fed.

The story is going viral on Thai social media with posters torn between two ideas:

The man's kindness to animals or the idea that he might be barking (quite mad).

I have respect for this guy. He has done the best he can for these animals but the financial burden has caught up with him. To where can donations be sent ?

Post if you find out. A heart of gold searched for when you're getting old. I like that guy.
