SATTAHIP:--A welder suffered broken bones and a skull fracture after falling head first from scaffolding at a Sattahip construction site.

Sarawuth Pemsuk, 56, was rushed to Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center Nov. 14 following the two-meter tumble at a restaurant under construction at the 700 Rai Market.

Witnesses said Sarawuth was working when he lost his footing on the high scaffolding and fell to the ground, landing on his stomach.

Okey! They managed to do that in only 3 sentences. Must be a world record.

Anyway, let´s hope he get better and can work as usual again.

Safety hard hat costs about 200 bht in Thailand.

When our house was being built 12 years ago I offered to buy the 7 or 8 labourers construction helmets....not one of them was interested.

Same when the welder turned up to do the roof joists, offered to buy him a proper mask. He preferred his 99 bht 'Raybans'.

Safety precautions appear almost nonexistent here.
