Funnily enough my number one is my Immigration officer who keeps refusing to extend my visa so it's a bit of a love hate relationship.

Saw a sad thing yesterday. I'll put the pics on the next Owl Log.

 

A lovely cow had fallen into a hole next to the Ban Dung footy ground. I wasn't there when the cow was lifted out, but soon after. I gave the animal some water; which it licked up.

 

Picked up Mildred from school and went back to show her the cow. One of M's teachers was there, and also the cow's owner/keeper.

 

Will go again today.

Impossible!I have no control over where my eyes look that is totally decided by my.......!Apart from that I would be caught out with a lie.I do in fact adhere to the professor's approach out of respect for women and also I've always been hard of hearing and instinctively kind of lip read.

So the young lady selling nectar is number 1, the 7/11 check out girl is number 2 and now the “ lovely cow “ is presumably number 3 !!

Mrs Owl is on the warpath still. Nearly a week since I asked her to move her Buddha Idols away from my cupboard table top. I had similar a couple of years back, when I objected to her burning incense sticks in the house. After her running to her mum (only 30 metres away) to complain, her mum said I was right (found out a long time afterwards), and we agreed on little candles.

 

She definitely does not make my top 10 for desirable ladies at the mo'. However, she could rise up the charts if she was to start making my Rosy - as before - and not keep moaning about the cat.

 

Life is full of ups and downs.

My gf THINKS she is number one on my list and that’s what counts ????

 

She has her little “shrine” for her Buddha stuff ( plus every doorway has a little something fixed above ! ).

 

Of course when I had finished she decided to change from 3 long shelves to 1 long and 2 short despite me telling her that I would have to redrill the wall ( hence the marks on the wall to the right ). 
 

 

 

The gf’s brother was a monk for ten years, he has a room full of Buddha related stuff, will try and sneak a photo some time .

Having said that in my previous post, I feel I have painted a bad picture of him.

 

He got the 5,000 baht from the government and bought a load of ingredients, cooked a boatload of meals and delivered them to his monk buddies and some poor local families.

The cow looked OK to me. But I'm no vet. It had fell down the hole, and was obviously traumatised.

 

 

They, must have dug it out with chog-chogs.

 

 

It was definitely in shock.

 

 

I made it feel better by giving it a stroke and a few words of encouragement.

 

 

Must tell Mildred about holding the camera steady. Gonna check on Mrs Cow later today.

I only went around that area to inquire about the exercise machines. I used to pass away the time on these machines, when the Mrs went to have her hair done. They were taken away a couple of years ago and replaced with new.

 

 

Most of them are now scrap. But, a couple could be restored. They are outside the fire station. Have a number. Gonna get Mrs Owl to call the Gov' office and ask if we can take a couple to be restored for the village.

 

 

We will see what happens.

Can't see any hole of note. Must be underneath. I've promised her that I'll replace it with something better. I'll be looking around.

The potted plants look the bizzo.

 

 

The plants with the black arrows are the eucas that I grew from cuttings. They look successful, but they are the only two that took from 70 starters.

 

The red is a mango. The yellow is the avocado twin of the green arrow.

 

Mrs Owl wants to plant them, but I want them to get a bit bigger. When she has planted my trees in the past, they always finish up dead.

Just sent some funds through Transferwise. Did the deed at 20-30 yesterday, and it was through at 01-00, in the early hours. Not bad that. Also, the rate is gradually getting better.

 

I notice that Man City are firm favourites to win the EPL for 2020/2021. Have I missed something? They lost nine games last season. Come on Wolves; 200-1.

 

Went for a walk in the food market yesterday. Just terrible. Two carts were selling Mekong catfish. One stand had them getting on for one metre long. They are a protected fish in Thailand. I was not a happy bunny. "Mrs Owl, come and see what they are selling down the second isle." "I not want to go; tired. Just tell me." "Mekong catfish. Protected!" "I know you thinking. Want to buy them to put into pond." "No teerak. They are dead!" "What you worry about then. Stupid farang."

 

Just got the leccy bill. 1450 baht. That's the highest it's been for 6 months.

 

One of the Gate posts lights is out. Brought back a ladder from the farm this evening. Sort it out tomorrow. That 20 baht light from the cheep store will came in handy.

Some great news.

 

The cow has made it. Went around to have a look tonight and all seemed well.

 

 

The owner was very happy to have his pic taken with Mrs Cow, Probably the only asset he has.

There are some great big trees in the area, where the Government has it's offices.

 

 

The biggest is as wide as a pick-up.

Some really good news at the farm. The Mekong that was towing line, float and plants about since being hooked by accident, is alive and kicking; alive and swimming even!

The cages are almost underwater. It's my own fault. I was too optimistic when I sewed them up. I did the sides two metres deep, with 0.4 metres above the water.

 

When the water went down the net dragged on the bottom and got stuck in the mud bed.

Decided to move the plants into the sun, but only get the rays from two in the afternoon. Hope I've done the right thing. I'll keep my eye on them.

 

 

The Left one is a mango; middle are the avocado twins and the right two are eucas. Actually I wouldn't mind if the eucas are used to replace a couple, that are suffering in the farm. They would be fine.

Put in some footy forecasts with PaddyPower today. Bournemouth, Wigan and Barrow all to be promoted. What am I going to spend my 2k squids on? I've already invested in WW so another decent pay day there. Gold! Gonna buy loads of gold; and some fish; maybe some ,,,! I'm counting my chickens alright. 

 

I am a little bothered about Mildred's diet. I think she is taking in too much sugar. Likes chocolate milk (don't we all straight form the fridge) but there is 5% sugar added. Not too much for the occasional carton. but two a day, every day is too much I think. One of the five 7/11s in Ban Dung is doing a pack of 6 x 225ml on a special at the mo'. So tempting.

 

The MinL's leccy bill is 277 baht this time. I've got used to not having to pay anything this year. Been paying it for 12 years. Don't mind at all. But I'll not get too much change out of 2k baht for this period.

 

Been running fully on Diesel B10 all week. The only difference is on tickover. Dropped to 750rpm from 850. Runs just as well. Let's hope the price keeps below 20 baht/l.

 

Mrs Owl has been putting all the worth something stuff in the lockable concrete shed under the water tank. That's two generators, two water pumps, a sprayer, and some smaller items, including tools. I've done the donkey work of course. Also put all the fishing rods upstairs in the bedroom. She was told that people are coming round at night looking for frogs. What did I think? "It's OK as long as they don't hurt them." "Farang ding dong."

We have and soon to be had many such trees that lined the road from Patiew to Yasothon which is about 30 kms It was almost a tunnel the whole way many trees hundreds of years old and was one of the most beautiful drives I've seen in all of my travels and they are currently being devastated to widen the road to 4 lanes and almost brings me to tears to see such destruction the photos I took today don't do justice to the destruction of a such magnificent trees.I will try and get some photos that give a better indication of what's left and what has been cut down.

I always told the missus if they cut those trees down it's time to go to Laos.It must be time to go to Laos.I'll try and post some photos of our tree farm to counter the negative aspect of the destruction.
