Martwonx has just called me to ask if I could come around and help with her cat training. She is so beautiful, but very demanding (Martwonx not the cat). I think I'll have to give her a miss today. Juliette has just left and kept me up half the night. I'm tired.

Oh! I very much doubt it Mr Bluesofa. He has always been a bit of a rebel. Sometimes a thorn in the side of authority. Putting his neck on the line to help expose Hamilton Bland and Chris Bromley among others.

 

He was reading physiology and pathology when we met, and the people who granted him objected to him writing a book. So, he went it alone. Sold out 5,000 copies in a month. We were a trio; myself, Mr Owl and Mr Pidgeon (who later progressed to Professor). All three of us a questioning crew. Being French, I returned across the water after my studies at Whitechapel. The other two were a little jealous about my success with the ladies. But then I was somewhat envious of them for other reasons.

 

So I can say definitely not.

Owl Log - 23-01-2021 - Saturday morning

 

How are we?

 

I've been turning off the router each night and it has resulted in better sleep. Although the howling and barking dogs tried their best to keep us all awake last night. There are two packs; the 'cross-roads' gang with 6 members and the 'fat lady' crew with 5. We are right in the middle. Curly Wurly (CW) stays neutral in all the gesturing, and goading. They generally keep away from our patch as they risk a whack from a stout bamboo. So they learn to keep clear. Anyway, CW is only interested in raiding the bins it seems.

 

.Mildred didn't go to school on Friday. I thought I would be pleased not to have to get up. But at 21-00 on Thursday evening Mrs Owl told me I'd have to get up to tell the bus driver that Milly was not gonna be at the bus stop for pick up. No rest for the wicked! When I moaned she put me straight; "you can go back to bed after."

 

And talking about 'wicked. If any of you saw the post that got me me my 5 dayer; sorry to distress you! And if anyone would like to see it; PM me. It's disgusting. I would have given myself 69 days holiday.

 

The cold weather has drifted away, as it would surely do, when February approaches.

 

Found a couple of new-builds on my travels.

 

 

Never saw any of these flat-roof houses when I first came to Isaan. Now they are everywhere it seems.

Mildred's school is getting some work done. Milly says it is gonna be an administration center. And I believe her as she wouldn't have come across that work by accident.

Drove to the farm on Wednesday, only to see a tell-tale sign that something was not quite ticky-boo.

 

 

Now how did that pipe get there? Investigated further and found a few inch and half sections missing.

 

On the way home I saw activity at Pook's.

Pumping from the pond to the new 'Thai tomato' fields.

 

 

Not doing sugar this year. They bought ten rolls of drip tape. Hope their pond doesn't dry up.

 

 

It was at this time I noticed a bit of stubble burning. Thought is was not allowed. Must be getting mixed up with other things that are not allowed. And then I found some new burns.

After I'd cleaned out the furnace. I decided to renew the bars. They were in a sorry state. Some had burnt through. Been there 11 years so it was time to renew.

 

 

Bought 12 new. All told 300 baht; including cutting.

 

 

Put in a couple. Milly will help me put the rest in today.

 

 

Got to get rid of the metal junk. Think I'll just bury it.

 

 

What a silly-billy I am. I gave the cutter at the store the wrong measurements for the bars. Said I'd pick them up next day. Too short they were. Waste of 155 Baht. I offered to sell them back to him. No! More sleepless nights worrying what to do with them.

Sorry about the lottery number guys. In recent times I've taken to giving out the winning numbers. Spot on the first time, but way off target last. I'm not gonna change my methods just yet. One failure doesn't mean I should be panicked into discarding a trusted method. No! I'll consult my sources and get back before next draw.

 

The Reds lost their proud home record in the week. They are going through a sticky spell. Too early to think of a relegating fight though.

 

Mrs Owl went to Ban Dung with daughter Nan. She came back with good news. "There is new shop Farang. Cheap clothes; big ones. Very cheap sell.  Not new." Good news indeed. Cheap clothes that fit. "Thanks teerak. I'll check it out when I go to pick Milly up." Picked her up and headed over to the clothes shop with 50 baht in me pocket. Packed away. Too late. Gutted!

 

The guy next door is making a new hut to sit outside the shop next door. Looks good. Pics next post.

 

Charkie is eating much better this week.

Just seen the post Ody. Came through while I was constructing the Owl Log.

 

Very stirring stuff. I'm sure Vous would be dancing along. He would not necessarily agree with the words at 1-52. Now-a-days his aim is to keep all his ladies happy.

How are we?We've been struggling.After many years of cutting things too short I came across the saying  "measure twice cut once" and although sage advice (and 30 years in an occupation of measuring ) it doesn't seem to work with me.Build a smaller backup incinerator to use up the bars and make the stuff up even more painful and expensive to help remember aforementioned sage advice.Oh and welcome back.

Out at the farm today as usual. Run the water pump for just over three hours. The trees got plenty. Not the eucas, but those in Mrs Owl's garden.

 

 

That's my new hat! Back to the shop Monday. See if that caring lady has saved another for me.

 

 

Milly helped me fit the rest of the fire irons.

That's my green gansy. Dear me! No clothes left soon. Hat and jersey gone. Where's that cheap second-hand clothes shop teerak?

 

 

There ya go. Good for another 10 years. Now, where's the rubbish?

Watched Sonia Poulton's 'Raw Report' before going to farm. Very sad this week. Frank Bruno's interview was inspiring though.
