Non-O retirement extension and insurance

Recommended Posts

I am about to renew my annual extension, based upon retirement, of my two years old Non-O visa. Will I be asked for a health insurance by immigration?

You might. Depends on the province....and seemingly in some cases on which IO in the office. Where are you?

He stated his extension is for a non-o visa entry not a OA visa. Certainly no insurance will be needed.

Of course, sorry I missed the "O" part

Thanks for clearing that up, Joe 😊

I said not long ago that I am confused.

It was said that medical was only required for those applying for O-A retirement visa in there own countries.

Now there is talk about medical insurance being required for O-A extensions.

Does anyone really know or is this a lot of speculation and conjecture?

The more people who post things on here and are only guessing make it very confusing.

Please, please state only facts.

No , but some IOs might say yes it depends what kind of day they are having  if your like me you have 800,000 in the bank sitting around earning very little interest that you could always use as an emergency if needed.

Hua Hin

Do you have an O-A Visa or an O?

The O does not need an insurance.

"if you have 800,000 in the bank sitting around earning very little interest".

You can get 1,5-2% interest on a Fixed Deposit Account. That's more than the bank in my "home country" offers me. Even a savings account here is better than overseas.

And as soon as you use it, your extension is invalid.

I read this forum every day for years and have yet to read of someone needing proof of insurance when extending a Non "O" visa.
