webfact
Forest Dept. chief misled into approving the felling of healthy trees on road in Phang-nga The Royal Forest Department has ordered a fact-finding investigation into how 11 healthy, decades-old Yang Na trees, along a road in Takua Thung district of the southern province of Phang-nga, were said to be dying and were cut down by officials from the Forest Industry Organization, with approval of the department’s chief. The chief, Mr. Atthapol Charoenchansa, admitted to Thai PBS that he signed off on the action because the FIO office in Phang-nga claimed that the trees were dying and could pose a threat to motorists. He said that he discovered later that the trees were actually perfectly healthy, adding that local officials should have inspected the trees before action was taken to remove them, though he does not believe anyone could be held accountable for the error. Scot123
I've seen this so often in Thailand. Out on my motorbike riding down a beautiful avenue of trees. Then go back and either pruned to a stub or simply just 2 rows of stumps. It is so sad as it would take a lifetime for someone else to experience that beauty again all because some greedy B@#&*d. poohy
They have had a field day around Prachuap massacring the trees along country roads mostly for no apparent reason 2 trees opposite my house about 60 years old felled by backhoe reason they were big and growing over the road that carries no big vehicles and about 50 cars a day. Supervisor Bloke from orbator was quite proud of the job and couldnt see what was vaguely upset about. Wifes take.... They are Country people ....NO BRAINS!
