Honestly, good riddance to them.  How low do you have to go with your dignity to do this. Oh yeah, not having any.

You probably slaved half of your life away working for someone else and waking up to an alarm clock.

I’d say they are getting along just fine in the dignity department.

It's very newsworthy if it serves as a warning to others who may be doing it.  It is also newsworthy enough to encourage you to read the entire thread!

JW, I took your point and went back and reread the  Naew Na article.  I just don't see it as important at all.  At least no more important than a report on how many jaywalkers had been arrested or fined.

We differ in opinion on this small matter.  That is allowed even encouraged

Take care

Not need to be sorry holycow. (You from India?)

i think you talk about sell your old thing. Like a car, bike etc. is not a “business”.

This is people trying to make profit from a “business”.

maybe I wrong? Can you show me a link of a foreigner sell his condo, car or bike which make immigrant police arrest them.

Many foreigner sell car, bike etc. Everyday. No problem I think.

No Problem YET.

Just wait as they Stir up more Negatives about foreigners,

in order to push their Anti foreigner Agenda.

I've been praying they make that fatal mistake of winding up Cambodia again, i'd love to see T72s rolling down Sukhumvit amidst clouds of Thai uniforms and tons of cereal packet medals whistling through the air as the brave lads leg it to the UN or the yanks begging for help from the decadent farangs........

Don't be so subtle about it, tell us how you really feel.  ????

I thought the T72 was still the favored vehicle of Russian tourists and that Cambodia was using the T55 variants.

Anyway, have a good day and a cold San Mig for me

I wish also my country could do more... Kick out back to bangkok in boat thai people in my land , working illegally,  opening fake company, using my social care, my social health, cooking illegal food in their appartment at illegal time for illegal restaurant, using illegal product..and all that just above my room...I wish also...

Where is your land? Your police can deal with all the illegal activities you mention.

ok, after you edited in that link.

That list is not was I was talking about.

That list exists a very long time, same like Thaivisa exist a very long time and we read it since 10-15 years.

I'm talking about an overall picture of an unusual accelerating trend of things which never made headlines/news before ...

In 1900 in the KSR foreigners were selling stuff. I bought some feather ear rings made by a german girl.  She and others put down a blanket on the pavement outside a shop to display their goods.

Opinions and a***holes.... Does what these people do really bug you that much?

It's selective-illegality: easy targets for the police and immigration, while the real hoodlums...well, you know!

Meanwhile, down at Deadman's Gulch....

When I see these begpackers, I feel absolute shame. These dirtbags can afford a flight halfway around the world to a developing country with REAL poor people, sometimes children, and then sit and beg? And these pricks want to take money from people that earn peanuts and cannot afford nice international holidays? It’s a scumbag Selfish millennial trend that needs to stop. Embarrassing.

That's exactly correct. Don't sell anything, you need to get a Thai to do it for you.

How can i employ a Thai i don't have a company so that would probably in some twisted way break a 'law' in LOS, causing a huge vinyl board to appear. no wonder I've accumulated so much junk.

I think you will find that most countries will prohibit foreigners from taking jobs that locals can perform. And I have to agree with that policy.

Not sure where you are from, but I have worked in a few European countries and it is absolutely illegal not to employ someone based on their nationality (or gender).

I know several foreigners working without work permits and they have been doing it for years. But they don't do it in the public and not on public ground like these backpackers.

Working should never be illegal.  Laziness should.

Seriously, I cannot understand why any country would like better to host more drones than worker bees.  Why should Thailand, or any other country, prefer to make laws against work?  How do non-workers benefit society?  It's illogical to conclude that because some do not work, others will benefit.  In the short term, perhaps others do indeed have more work to do to make up for the lazy ones; but in the long term, the sloth drags down all of society.

Thai media Naew Na referred to them as long haired "hippies" taking jobs reserved for Thais.

Some Thai teachers should go on patrol and give them an adequate haircut.

Two guys who sell postcards against hundreds who sell kiddie porn under the eyes of the cops.

This country has changed in a way that even the hippies will stop spending their holidays in Thailand. They have lost their Smiles.

Good job, immigration. You've done an outstanding job. Congrats.

So does this mean that we as foreigners who sell anything, even like a bike or car or jacket or computer monitor are breaking the immigration law of working with out a permit and taking a job from a Thai? This country is beginning to smell and we are all going to have to redefine the thin line of what not to cross.

There is a big difference between selling a bike and begging on the streets

This is not that easy. People without work permits come from foreign countries. Often they work for little money and so locals with the same qualifications will not find a job for the usual normal payment. These people without work permits also don't pay any taxes. They obviously don't care about any laws. They might do jobs without any qualification just to survive. And...

Begging? And for how ridiculous things here are now you don’t really think that they can abuse and decipher anything the way they want to? Do you follow the elections? Do you just follow the courts decision on Thanathorn? I don’t put anything past them to be impossible

If the work were not illegal, most of your issues would be non-issues.  For example, no one would need to stay "under the radar," which necessarily includes paying no taxes, lest the authorities discover what one is doing.  In a free market, where anyone may work, those doing the hiring can choose the qualifications of the one being hired.  Working for less money should, theoretically, build a stronger economy because it works against the usual upward forces of inflation.

Thai people think/worry/care/ talk about thai people.

You imagine thai people talk about farang all day. But, not really important, sorry.

We not Brexit, we not build a wall to keep foreigner out etc.

You want to sell your car, bike, condo will be no problem. Sure.

if you want to set up selling business on the street with tourism visa, will be problem, sure.

Thailand have many forum like TVF, thai talk together.

The only time I read about

“Stir up more Negatives about foreigners,

in order to push their Anti foreigner Agenda” is on TVF.

To much believe TVF will be crazy.

Just you imagination. And repeat everyday, everyday. Some people believe.

Actually yes, I was with my wife in Jing Jai weekend market (Chiang Mai) selling stuff we had brought over and accumulated over the few years; I was approached (very discreetly) and informed that I could not be there. My wife, who is Thai, had no issues.

While I'll accept your point about the general hysteria on TVF. You do realize that the majority of these forums start from Headline news from The Nation and Bangkok post. It kinda tough just blaming the TVF crowd for just pointing out what Thai media reports, prints and highlights.
