3BB new plans and free speed upgrade!

3BB did it again! You get more speed for the price you pay.

They also have 790 baht 1000/100 fiber with My Swop (Speed swap) feature which requires 24 month contract and is direct rival of True gigetex fiber.

590 baht = 200/200

700 baht = 400/400

900 baht = 500/500

1200 baht = 700/700

790 baht = 1000/100

My Asus AC86U (AC2900) is unable to keep up with 700Mbps on 5ghz AC (1300 Mbit two-way connection, 600-650 max. theoritical rate). Still, I can't complain and I'll enjoy 700/700 since it's a free upgrade.

It's time to upgrade my NAS since it can't cope with such high speeds.

Yes i just noticed my 100/100 is now 200/200. Good news for 590 baht. I also see you can "swop" speeds to get 300/100 instead of 200/200. Much better as i never do any uploads.

Anyone get the Giga package yet for 790. On promotion this month. What is needed if you already have fibre installed, a new router? But if you have the 400/400 you can swop to get 700/100 which is nearly as good.

Good find, just used my 3bb phone app to 'swop' from 200/200 to 300/100.

Great stuff! Last time they revised the packages, I went from 200/200 to 500/500 free (1284 baht) which was a bit overkill for me so I downgraded back to 200/200 and saved 500 baht + vat a month. With this new upgrade, I went to 400/400 which I have "swopped" to 500/300, so I'm just about back to where I was after the the previous free upgrade, but saving 500 baht + vat a month.

Been on the 1290 Baht 200/200MB for 2 years incl. Fixed line telephone.

Only ever got 100MB max on LAN and 38MB on Wifi. Over the years they must have been here at least a dozen times for fixes etc etc.

Now they upgraded me to 500/500 but still not getting anything more than before.

I was seriously thinking of downgrading my package to save some money and told them so I would. They said CAN NOT. You have fixed line telephone in your package. I can't be without the Telephone line as Its used for the business.

Just get a better router and you'll get 500/500 on wifi.

I have Asus AC86U connected to fiberhome router from 3BB using Bridge mode (tricky to setup) and I get 1300 Mbps via 5ghz near router (600-650 mbits max due to wifi limitations) easily.

Signed for 100/100 (590+tax) in July.

Six months on 50% price (changing from ToT).

Recently used the Swop feature to change to 150/50.

Then saw 200/200 and currently have 300/300.

Nice for 315 Baht incl. tax.

Nice (to have): can't really exploit it except when downloading youtube videos (with WinX). I prefer watching them with VLC. If boring with 3x to 8x speed

I am curious what the figures would show if you used https://testmy.net/ - and changed to a server in Europe/US?

I have been waiting since July 7th for 3BB to get their ass in gear and run the fibre link 800 metres to my house.

Last month they closed their office in Khampaeng Phet and moved it somewhere else that I haven't found yet.

People need to watch the hardware that IP's provide for their "super fast" internet access. You can have gigabit service but be on 2.4GHz "A" wifi and only getting 50+ MBps speeds unless hardwired.

3BB installed a 2.4/5GHz router with gigabit port.

Not great but most service use CDN all around the world and client connect to the closest one. My connection max out for Singapore or Tokyo but is not great to Dallas.

Yes it is a great deal however remember your television will max out at 100 MBPS so any faster does not do you any good.  Also, unless your computer is capable of those speeds and is hardwired again the additional speed does you no good.  If your router or computer is incapable of those speeds then they will not do you any good.

I have used 3BB for 6 years. Any issue was attended promptly with no charge to me, including move and they replaced Wi/fi router. Just wish I could find a Monthly package giving me the same service I now have with AIS = 400 baht, 3BB = 631.30 baht and TV = 400 baht (so 1430.30 month). Or am I about as good as it gets here in a Chiang Mai?

They came round this morning to upgrade me from 100/50 to 200/200. When they left the phone app said I was on 300/300, apparently the extra 100 is free for a month. However a speed check shows I am still on 100/50.

I don't know which speed check you used, but if you are using Chrome and www.speedtest.net you might find odd readings above 100. I have been using the speedtest.net App available on the Chrome web store (free) and my AIS 300/100 package is showing that +10%.

A while back, we had a problem with squirrels chewing through the cable. They were always out within hours. Since the neighbor trimmed back her jungle, the squirrels have dissipated.

About a month ago, service went down. This time it turned out to be the old connector going into the router. Tey were out and done, once again, within hours.

Our speed boost came with a new router - no charge.

Less of course but still way more than I have seen in the past.

It appears my ignorance was the problem. I am doing the speed test on my phone via wifi and it appears my phone maxes out at arround 100/100. Just did speed test on the computer using wifi and speed is 225/160. I am assured that if I attach the router by cable I will get 300/300.

For the ones who know how to run traceroute:

if you look at the routing of traffic from a 3BB connection to the Internet outside, it is very chaotic. They seem to have a lack of available IP addresses, and route you through a complex chaos of 3BB routers with private IP addresses, before you get to a router with a shared public IP address.

Here a shortened example:

Tracing route to xxxxxx [xxxxxx]

  1 2 ms 1 ms 2 ms 192.168.1.1
  2 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms 10.121.60.237
  3 9 ms 9 ms 11 ms 10.121.60.230
  4 14 ms 12 ms 13 ms mx-ll-110.164.0-108.static.3bb.co.th [110.164.0.108]
  5 20 ms 17 ms 16 ms mx-ll-110.164.14-220.static.3bb.co.th [110.164.14.220]
  6 14 ms 12 ms 15 ms mx-ll-110.164.14-246.static.3bb.co.th [110.164.14.246]
  7 13 ms 13 ms 13 ms mx-ll-110.164.1-19.static.3bb.co.th [110.164.1.19]
  8 13 ms 17 ms 13 ms mx-ll-110.164.1-21.static.3bb.co.th [110.164.1.21]
  9 36 ms 36 ms 36 ms mx-ll-110.164.0-243.static.3bb.co.th [110.164.0.243]
 10 37 ms 37 ms 36 ms mx-ll-110.164.0-189.static.3bb.co.th [110.164.0.189]
 ....

Even after 10 hops you're still in the 3BB maze, and the latency is getting quite high.

Sometimes it has drop outs, unfortunately.

Speedtests, Fakebook and Youtube are not a good way to check. Access to Fakebook and Youtube is always optimized, with local caches in place.

Speedtests too, they are made working first, and often only show what is possible if traffic is optimized and prioritized.

Earlier this year with 3BB I changed from an up to 30Mbps pack to a up to 100 Mbps pack at around THB 600/month.

I also paid their subcontractor 4,000THB to install fibre optic all the way to their new modem.

Absolutely no improvement, I get 9 Mbps on a good day to the USA or London (testmy.net)

Their technician come last week and told me that I get 5G on my phone but my laptop doesn't do 5G on WiFi so if I get it modified I will get faster downloads. (My TV does get the 5G WiFi OK)

If I get a new laptop what speed should I then get? 18Mbps?

No need to buy a new laptop. Wouldn't something like this be a better first option? https://www.lazada.co.th/products/600mbps-dual-band-5ghz-wireless-usb-lan-pc-wifi-w-80211ac-i384850567-s747578197.html?ef_id=CjwKCAiA8ejuBRAaEiwAn-iJ3lnCfqK3sY1FHIkXGqqzAt8sOoBj4jJBiXIpseBldhQ7UrfY8Q93AhoCBzcQAvD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!3152!3!286179630377!!!u!296030489971!&exlaz=d_1:mm_150050845_51350205_2010350205::12:1498579383!58089999096!!!pla-296030489971!c!296030489971!747578197!143715528!286179630377&gclid=CjwKCAiA8ejuBRAaEiwAn-iJ3lnCfqK3sY1FHIkXGqqzAt8sOoBj4jJBiXIpseBldhQ7UrfY8Q93AhoCBzcQAvD_BwE
