Doesn’t look like casino establishments are in the pipeline for here.

Bring in the Slots.

One arm bandits.

(Not the thai ones)

Pokies.

(Not the short time ones)

It's the biggest addiction problem in many countries.

Would make billions here.

Pay the profit into a decent pension benefits for elderly.

But clever Rooster add his own about “foreigner arrested playing card game” that not in this story.

He doesn't say foreigners were arrested in this story. He mentions, for comparison, a previous story where it happened to some farang playing darts and bridge (a card game), in Pattaya.

Really? I mean really?!? They should be busting the village "casinos" and their hi lo games....where thousands of baht are in play regularly. Round our way virtually every funeral party in every village is an excuse for this addictive game

Not forgetting gambling dens run by pigs !  Or Ex Pigs.

Then again what’s the saying, once a Pigs always a pig

Apparently you cannot buy playing cards in Thailand , although you can if you know where , so I am told

O Mache casinos just at the Thai / Cambodia border 60k from Surin do a roaring trade every day with Thai customers who cross the border for 50 baht . Thailand could have casinos which would generate big profit for the country . Gambling will always take place in one shape or another so it is best to have it in the open , a similar story with cannabis being legalised in many countries .

Thailand is starting to feel like a communist country with its unreasonable attitudes and in my thinking it is going the wrong way .

As  long as the Thai police fool around with these silly "crimes" they will have less energy to create new laws on the spot to harass farangs,

Ummm... I think they just did!

Offenbach had a similar view of the French police in his time:

THE GENDARMES DUET

div

We're public guardians bold, yet wary
And of ourselves we take good care
To risk our precious lives we're chary
When anger looms, we're never there
But when we meet a helpless woman
Or little boys that do no harm
We run them in, we run them in
We run them in, we run them in
We show them we're the bold gendarmes
We run them in, we run them in
We run them in, we run them in
We show them we're the bold gendarmes.

Sometimes our duty's extramural
Then little butterflies we chase
We like to gamble in things rural
Commune with nature face to face
Unto our beat then back returning
Refreshed by nature's holy charm
We run them in, we run them in
We run them in, we run them in
We show them we're the bold gendarmes
We run them in, we run them in
We run them in, we run them in
We show them we're the bold gendarmes.

If gentlemen will make a riot
And punch each other's heads at night
We're quite disposed to keep it quiet
Provided that they make it right
But if they do not seem to see it
Or give to us our proper terms
We run them in, we run them in
We run them in, we run them in
We show them we're the bold gendarmes
We run them in, we run them in
We run them in, we run them in
We show them we're the bold gendarmes.

No tolerance for gambling. Yet the government runs a nation lottery...

here at work at this big Defense company I work for, they block the California state lottery web site, but they do not block all the local casino websites, Barona, Pechanga, etc.
