In the link that can't be opened (but I Googled it and found the article) it states that almost all straight men who contracted HIV were on sex trips in South East Asia.

Perhaps it's time for Sheryl to start deleting posts like yours who throughout years dangerously claimed what you spew.

Kinda makes me angry as I actually believed this nonsense and took some risks.

I agree. I had someone tell me not all that long ago that the stories of HIV being contracted from women in Thailand was overblown even tho there were so many stories that countered his opinion. Stories of young girls leaving home as a pre-teen to head to a bigger Thai city to make money for their family only to return home a couple years later infected and waiting to die. Sad.

No, it's not easy

but it's not impossible

But there is a  good chance you can get herpies amongst a few other nice things via oral sex. Imagine all the other wieners she had in her mouth before yours. For those that think using a condom will save them from contracting it via regular sex think again. Condoms can and do fail. Why a person would want to have sex with someone who might have AIDS even using a condom is quite hard to comprehend. Possibly lose your life for a few minutes of pleasure.

Newsflash: Condoms are no protection from herpes.

The contagious blisters can form anywhere on the body.

Really. its very rare for someone diagnosed now to pass form hiv,

Really it's not but this is the common wisdom.

Many guys I knew from back in the old days from Cambodia. I ran into an old mate who stayed on. Most everyone I could recall and name had died of aids.

Sex diseases absolutely rife throughout Thailand.

Old men can't get it up wearing a condom. Old and don't care...smokers. Bah! gonna die in ten years anyway! All the idiots that come here to shoot porn.

Girls all know it. When the leave for Pattaya they say they're signing their own death warrants.

Yes, and unfortunately most of the prostitute in Thailand do rarely a test.

They don't want to pay for it and the bars don't want too,

The only ''chance'' for her to be detected with an STI is when a farang want to

take them for a few weeks and pay the test for them before to go bareback.

I take PrEP and what I don't understand is you are meant to take it daily for insertive vaginal\frontal sex, but insertive anal sex only 4 days a week is required. So insertive anal sex is less risky than insertive vaginal sex, doesn't make any sense to me but I've read it in many places.

Is there a doctor in the house?

I think that study is skewed because it's difficult for Prep to protect WOMEN using the on demand dosage. It doesn't make sense that somehow insertive anal is more risky than insertive anal. If PreP protect against both receptive AND insertive anal participants than logically it should equally protect against insertive vaginal participants. What I believe it doesn't do as well is protect receptive women unless they take it daily. But I have read the study and I know this is not what's written, only what logically makes sense.

i agree with you, but when i raise this with the medical people they just parrot out what they've read and can't explain it which happened twice in the last two days

I have a typo above I meant to write it doesn't make sense that insertive anal could be more risky than insertive vaginal sex for the man inserting. (LOL sorry to get technical) but I agree medical professionals don't want to be on the hook for explaining this nuance.

insertive anal more risky because more likely to be blood involved, plus isn't that one of the reasons HIV was\is much more widespread in the gay community?

and how many Thais can afford such medication? They are indeed dying.

The medication is free for Thai citizens.

Some Thais with HIV unfortunately refuse treatment (or refuse even to be tested or diagnosed) due to stigma but the majority of HIV+ Thais are on ART.

" Thailand is well on its way to meeting the 90-90-90 targets, the goal that by 2020, 90% of people living with HIV know their HIV status, 90% of people with diagnosed HIV infection receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, and 90% of people receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) are virally suppressed. In Thailand, 89% of people living with HIV know their status, 72% receive ART and 82% have viral load testing – 99% of whom are suppressed. "

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5337415/

Deaths from AIDs here still occur but far, far fewer than in the past. And not for lack of money.

Very good point. If a young woman knows she has it what's to keep her from going on a sex rampage to infect as many men as possible to pay them back. All along collecting as much money for her family as possible before she dies.

Be lucky? I'd say be smart.

Truvada is the PreP drug of choice, however there are many possible and common side effects, the most dangerous are
impaired kidney function (exceeding creatinine levels) common, mood changes (depression, anxiety) very common, impaired liver function, loss of bone density, common.
It baffles me that hiv-neg people want to take the risk of these side effects over condom use and without a proper medical examination.

You say common, how common are these side effects? data? I don't know anyone who has the side effects you mention. Loss of bone density is a risk with long term use
