LONDON (Reuters) - Britain is unlikely to cut off ties to the European Union at the end of 2020 without having a free trade deal in place, finance minister Sajid Javid said on Thursday.

The governing Conservatives have pledged to pass their Withdrawal Agreement through parliament in time to leave the European Union at the end of January if they win a majority in a December 12 election, but then need to agree a free trade deal with the European Union by the end of 2020.

“I am confident that we will get a deal done... I think (leaving without a deal) is extremely remote,” Javid told BBC radio.

There's no hope of a trade with the EU, not when they deliberately want to make things difficult because we are leaving.

It's like asking Thailand to cancel TM30''s or scrapping medical insurance, because they are all too corrupt.

Of course there is going to be trade!Just as much as at the moment, both sides will finally realize they need each other.I think both the EU and Britain are being arrogant, not the people but the politicians.

Wakeup, will you????

The EEC has 86Bn trade surplus and 1 million car worker jobs dependant on trade with our GREAT country.

Even the dimwit Public Sector leeches hanging around Brussels and Strasbourg will have obey Boris to keep their trade.

There has never been any question of the UK cutting ties with the EU trading partners. The whole Deal/No Deal hysteria was, and still is, Project Fear whipped up by the rabid Remainers; vested big business interests; euro-federasts and leftist Europhiles.

You can take the EU horse to water but if it does not want to make a deal it won’t. That’s our time to Leave without a bad deal, then begin to redress the trade imbalance

One day you will wake up to reality, an EU deal and a US deal are not mutually compatible.

The EU have chosen to live without a US deal, which one is the UK going to live without?

We have already established that the UK wants to live without the EU deal.

Of course, the "no deal" scenario.

Johnson didn't like the result of the last election so he holds an electerendum. Not seen as a problem when an autocratic PM refuses to honour the result of the last election to get what he wants, and there are those that would call it democracy.

Anti-democratic Remainers have blocked and twisted and thwarted the democratic process to bring our Brexit. Boris has effectively put it back to the vote again through a GE. Is this your second referendum or a RINO? Or is it another one that you collectively won't honour because you won't like the result again. Yes, I'd call it democracy, wouldn't you?

Only the delusional brexiteer would see a GE as another referendum.

Theresa May refused to honour the result of the 2015 GE and Bojo has refused to honour the result of the 2017 GE.

Feel free to mix autocracy with democracy when it suits.

Ah, and FTA negotiated with the EU within a year.

Seems Goebels was right. Tell a big enough lie and feeble mined people will believe it.

You blokes constantly fall for this stuff. Put it on a red bus and you believe it. If someone tells you Mexico is paying for it you’ll believe it.

And if the UK imposes minimal tariffs (which they are likely to do) that surplus will remain. Deal or no deal.

That’s effectively what it boiled down to:

Liebour and the anti-Dems to Remain.

Boris to Leave.

Suits me and millions of others to democratically not elect those who thwart our democratic referendum result.
