madmitch
The Nation yet again comes up half a story (not even that!) to give a pro-Government bias. The other paper has the full story and there's an interesting side-story here from a source that I think I can link to: https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/politics/wanted-mp-sneaks-into-thai-parliament-for-crucial-vote

ParkerN
Welcome to the real world. The powers-that-be have made sure that well-meaning-but-doomed-to-failure attempts like this one will fail; they had several years to stitch up the country and paternalism is one of the few things Thais seem to do quite well. Economy in the pan? education lagging behind the rest of the world? Never mind, lets think up some more propaganda and fake news, that'll fix it... Works every time if you keep the people stupid enough for long enough.

Works every time if you keep the people stupid enough for long enough. And frightened enough. The stupid Americans voted for Trump but they did not vote out of fear. Here the Thais, and they are not stupid, have been butchered every decade and had their right stolen off them. To call them stupid is a cheap shot. They are in an impossible position. People from HK are demonstrating and fighting back against China's influence. I will stop here. This is actually something you don't read much in Thailand. I am sure you know the reason.
