johnny1966
Currently have a bangkok bank acc. Want to open a new account with a different bank. Have work permit. Australian citizen. Thinking about SCB. Any recommendations as to a reasonable bank in Thailand?

exemplary21
I have savings accounts with Bangkok Bank and Krung Thai. Both work fine, both in branch and online.
stbkk
I have a KrungSri Mee Tae Dai account that pays quite a bit better interest than my Bangkok bank account as long as I only make 2 withdrawals a month. I use it for keeping my savings. Might be worth a look.
samsensam
i'd go for the bank where your local branch has english speaking staff. i'm with K bank and the only issue is it took me ages to find a branch with an english speaking member of staff, once i did all is great. I use both Bangkok Bank and SCB, and for shorter periods I've also used other banks like K-bank (Kasikorn). Apart from the general difference between the banks, it's often also a question of the local bank manager. However the Thai banks are heading towards more nationwide service and not that much based on that everything need to be made in one's home-branch, especially SCB are changing at the moment, probably part of their closure of a number of branches. I'm very satisfied with SCB including the online platform I have, once for stock-trading (SCB-online), and one for Internet-banking (SCBEasy), which however is a bit different from my European bank and seems like an early stage of Internet-banking, but it works all right for paying bills and transferring money to/from other accounts. ???? asiaexpat
Check out the branch of banks for english speakers and customer numbers. I prefer a branch near my house with a manger that is fluent in English and not crowded. Took a while to select the best fit for my needs.
chilly07
Have accounts with BB and Krungsri. Couldn't get one with SCB even though I had been paying wife's mortgage for 4years.
