Pattaya might have snatch thefts and scams but at least there's no prostitution!

Easiest thing to do is tell the Germans to mind their effin' business and get them to attract families to their own red light districts.

interesting quandary!

yes it is obvious we can't actually watch the original(German TV show "Achtung Abzokc) programme here, within TV; because it is not in English

hey that's ok....

but, if one is not actually in Germany, the whole Channel cannot be viewed In Toto;

due to Regional lockouts

i.e cannot watch it from Australia... etc etc

(not being able to understand foreign language programmes is something one is accustomed to anyways!

 - but I am sure the 'visuals' would have been enlightening.

BTW can I ask if someone knows from which GermanTV station this is being transmitted on?

(It is a Series...)

 - as I could then Independently simply watch stream via WWITV.com   etc etc

my target: https://wwitv.com/television/81.htm

Too many times I have seen reported in various news outlets and on YouTube attacks on foreigners. They latest being mob violence against an American citizen with him being chased and struck several times. The police issue tickets of 500 baht and call it a misunderstanding. Since when is mob violence a misunderstanding? Yet I read today everyone is all up in arms over an American calling Thai people gooks, but Thais refer to white people as farang and have another word equally offensive that they call Indians and Arabs. I think foreigners of all nationalities are pretty sick and tired of the way they are treated not only the incidents I mentioned, but everything on the whole. Dual pricing, scams, signs reading "Thai's only". When it finally made international news that the Thai army was brought in to try to explain and teach  taxi drivers, tuk tuk drivers, and motorcycle drivers how to behave you have already lost a battle you will never recover from. God bless and thank you to the members of the Thai army that tried their best to help. I have many wonderful Thai friends here and they all agree that a lone few have painted a very dark picture of Thailand and no-one has stepped forward to protect those of us that are guests in this country. Even if you stop this one-sided attitude towards foreigners you probably will never fully recover from the damage you have caused.

The other day i forgot my DL. During a control the police officer took my motorbike and condo keys (same ring) and i was told to "TAKE A MOTOTAXI!" when i asked to give it back to me in order to go to the station and pay the fine. Then he walked away ignoring me.

Really felt i was treated like a piece of trash and i won't forget.

So if German TV hadn't highlighted this, it'll be business as usual for the the scams and sh|te. And you guys wonder why Thailand has lost its shine with tourists. Do you  think the rest of the civilised world doesn't know what goes on before the German TV show?

For 'Guests' read 'Fare paying passengers'.

Did he give the keys back then? How else would you be able to enter your condo?

He cannot take your keys or bike, and I would make a big issue out of it.

Regardless what other people think, if you show you know the law and resist, they'll back off.

You should have taken a picture of him and gone straight to the police station.

After all, you have 4 days time to show your DL if you forgot it, and the office at the desk might know the law better.

Let us know what happened afterwards pls.

Cheers

That is a good prompter, if I get stopped I should put the keys in my pocket promptly. Once he has them, I am at a disadvantage. I was told they should no longer take your licence too. I would just like to know if I have any rights in such a situation.... I was wondering yesterday as I watched the locals riding about in cars without plates, on bikes without a helmet, 3 up etc, yet tourists are getting stopped. (It is collection season, but not Santas with a bucket!)

All foreigners will be inspected, camera phones and video equipment will be searched upon leaving the country. Any negative images found (photos and/or video) of crimes committed against foreigners or solicitation of prostitution (including but not limited to pornographic photos and/or video taken in hotel rooms that end up on pornographic websites) that can potentially be uploaded social media will bring charges of defamation of character. The equipment will be confiscated, the foreigner will be prosecuted, fined, deported and banned from re-entry for life. All fault of wrong doing is on the foreigner. If the foreigner wasn't here, none of this would happen. If the foreigner would just stay home and kindly wire transfer their money to us we won't look so bad.

Yeah, i tried to complain to several people at the police station but with no effect. So i paid the 400 THB fine + 60 THB of mototaxi and got the key back from him or his collegue.

So you say i should not have been fined if able to show my DL within 4 days? Any source? Could i go back to the station with the ticket and my DL and ask for refund?

He took it while i was parking the bike and looking elsewhere. Disgusting behaviour really.

Not convinced that is correct for Thailand, if driving, you are meant to carry your original licence (and IDP if non-Thai). There is an App now that can show your Thai licence on the phone which is supposed to be acceptable.

Another pathetic non response from the authorities.  They didn't need a meeting to know that Pattaya is a (deleted) hole full of scams and criminals. As usual they wring their hands, but will do nothing.  I wonder how the farang apologists for this dump of a  City will react to this German programme.  That will be more interesting to me.   No doubt the " I have lived here for 20 years and I have had no problems at all, it's a lovely place" , brigade will be up in arms shortly.  ????

The scamming is a tremendous positive to the Thai economy, it allows trillions of illgotten baht to end up in the hands of the Thai people creating a massive trade surplus. Why would the police or government want to stop this tremendous winning situation for Thailand? Of course they don't want to stop it, they also have the Thai apologists working for them to combat negative news including our beloved sit on their asz do nothing foreign embassies in Thailand, of course except the Chinese and Japanese foreign embassies.

I lived in Manila for 11 years back in the late 70's and 80's and ran the red light district waaaaay too much, but I never had a problem and never knew of anyone being scammed or attacked. As in most red light districts there was a mafia that protected the area and they policed their own. They were smart enough to realize that a few bad apples would destroy the business for everyone, so they dealt with them immediately without the necessity for police intervention. Why oh why are the Thais not wise enough to figure that out for themselves. It's not rocket science!

You want the mafia to run Pattaya?

To the extent that they don't, yeah that'll solve everything....

I'm amazed the authorities didn't immediately try to have the German programs producers and reported arrested, and apply for extradited to stand trail in Thailand (fat chance) for 'tarnishing the good name of Thailand'...that is the normal approach there...shoot the messenger then hide the body.
