How to open paint can?

Recommended Posts

Grab hold of that bit of plastic sticking out with a pair of pliers and pull off the plastic strip that encircles the can, then a screw driver will pop the lid...

You are supposed to pull the tab and remove the band all the way around. They can be a PITA.

I have to use pliers to pull the band off, then a screwdriver to pry the top off.

Agreed, difficult to open, but when you clean the lid and the can from paint, and reclose it, it is really closed, and the paint stays good for years...
