After Brexit, the UK has no choice but to become an American vassal state?

The Euro is still stronger than the GBP. Remember on day 1 when it was 1.42? The GBP actually rocketed to hit 1.20 when Johnson won, far short of 1.42

There do seem to be certain posters on various threads that wish ill on others. I want a strong pound. I don't wish for a weak Euro (or a weak baht for that matter). Why wish misfortune on others just because we UK citizens are going through the mill at the moment.

Strong economy,  competitive currency,  high employment, booming housing market, stable government, no civil strife, stock and shares rising. The main country in Europe that gives opportunities to all, trade unions nearly  under control..

How not so?

Oh sorry I thought you were talking about the UK. Which country is this?

Really? How about weak economy, ridiculously low pound, large number of people on ZHCs (no sick leave or annual leave) counting as employed, and trade unions so weakened by legislation that they can't fight for better terms and conditions. Just what the current US government would like.

Yeah Democracy sucks. Ha ha. You want misfortune for the UK to justify your political opinion just like the so called resistance and Trump haters in the USA.

The last thing I want for the uk is misfortune, what an idiotic thing to say. Just because your version of democracy works for your agenda doesn’t actually make it democracy

Do you really have to shatter their illusion? Let them be, reality is coming

As someone who has retired abroad I can assure you that my angst (about the pound in particular) is very real. But at least you've promoted me to the elite. Never been at such an exalted level before!

Don’t get too excited, anyone who didn’t vote leave is called elite

Don't forget food banks, the disabled, sick, old and unemployed dieing on the streets as their basic survival money is stripped from them for pathetic reasons, oh and lets not forget one of the lowest state pensions in the developed world...

Democracy?

You want to refuse Scotland a referendum based on the fact you fear the result and come on here talking about democracy?

How is it democracy to allow a vote by around 6% that will affect 100%?

And why should 92% be dictated to by potentially 2-4% on when and how that must be?

Nationalist Socialist idea of democracy - we must have everything our way!

As long as it takes, all depends if Germany are happy to prop up,

Spain,Portugal,Greece,Italy, are there anymore teetering on collapse,

If, when, the German economy really tanks, then we'll see what happens.

All these grand EU ideas: army, one budget, EU central Finance Ministry, harmonized taxes (haha Luxembourg), etc etc are dependent on being financed by the net contributors - and they're aren't many of them.

Germany pays and understandably wants the final say in many things because of it. When the others start refusing to go along with German desires, and the German economy tanks, watch the sparks start to fly!

Napoleon Macron has plenty on his plate to sort out in France!

And project fear continues...

He was probably one of the many 'experts' who said the EU will never reopen negotiations on the WA - and then they did.

Did you read the article?

Exactly which part is not true?

Obviously most of the things related to Brexit will only happen after Brexit is completely done. And that includes the transition period which is currently planned until end of 2020. You also still pay for the pleasure to be in the EU until end of 2020. That should be a hint for you that didn't leave until then.

Apply your same logic to Brexit.

The votes in the UK should be secondary to the wider population of the EU?

There are other options. The sensible one is to remain - and the majority of general election votes went to remain parties. Second best is BINO - brexit in name only _ where nothing changes except we no longer have a voice in Brussels. Taking back control??? Haha. We should never sign a trade agreement with US.
