Popular Post webfact 82,076
Video: Farang goes viral dancing to Thai music at a funeral Thai caption: Hang on buddy! This is a funeral Thai social media was abuzz after a man posted a video of a foreigner dancing to Thai music at a funeral. Tnews suggested that once he heard the rhythms the man couldn't stop his feet from doing the talking. They reckoned he didn't realise that it was a funeral. Poster "Korn" thought the fast paced sound may have been responsible. He suggested that music crosses cultural divides and Thai music is as good as anywhere! clip_1576380832_2622.mp4 The video was filmed at Wat Tapotharam in Sri Racha, Chonburi. More than a quarter of a million people had viewed the footage that had been shared 4,200 times. Popular Post Leaver 5,725
Let the competition for guessing his nationality start. From his dance moves, I get the feeling he either lives here, or has been here many times. If so, he should know he is not dressed appropriately for a temple. He also looks a little unsteady on his feet as well, and not from the dancing. He may have been intoxicated. In the clip, we can't see what he is seeing, but you can see the chairs laid out for a gathering, but rather than keep a low profile and let the Thai's do their thing, and just observe, this guy draws attention to himself. Depending on how the Thai's take this clip, he may get some attention from authorities. Like many things that go viral on the internet, you either become famous, or arrested, or both. Popular Post Matzzon 13,666
What a total douchebag. Appearently he have no clue about that that he is dancing to music played at a burial ceremony, or he is just one of those despicable persons that just do not care about his behaviour. When I see this bad behaviour and disrespect to Thai culture, tradition and people I truly feel ashamed being a person of the caucasian race. 16 2 5 16

At many Thai funerals there will be loud music, alcohol and gambling..I'm pretty sure no one cared much or was offended by a dancing foreigner. 54 14
Popular Post Saltire 1,367
Am pretty sure this would not go down well with those attending the ceremony, and not just because he is a foreigner, Around 2 years ago while on a shopping trip away from the village, my wife got a call from her brother who was the head monk at the local temple. He was pretty upset and asked the wife to come and collect their step mother as she was dancing to the funeral music. It was a particularly well known villager who had died which meant the place was packed. Of course we were too far away to assist, and later the wife said she was glad she didn't have to show her face and extract the MiL. Her brother lost face and there were many angry for a few days, the story being 'the talk of the steamy' for a while, but no real harm done. I have to be honest the thought of her 75 year old stepmum (who I should add is pretty much permanently drunk) dancing at the funeral made us laugh all the way home. 1

Far from it. I've been to 2 Thai funerals and got the impression that I was an honoured guest. I think Thais get kudos from having a farang at the funeral. Once the alcohol flows you can see more raucus behaviour than this. The Thais would have loved it. Only negative is that he was a bit under dressed. Makes me wonder if he was just visiting the wat and came upon the funeral. 8
