webfact
Poor refuse collector donates his life savings to the temple before dying Thai caption: Last merit making before dying Relatives of a poor refuse collector said on Facebook that he had donated his life savings to a temple before he died. "Taa Toi" (grandfather Toi) was pictured shirtless outside a 7-Eleven in Ban Mee and was said by his relatives to be a great man with a wonderful heart despite being poor. Apart from collecting trash he was known as a rag and bone man. He left his collection of coins to a temple. There was a mountain of money for the monks to count. The history of the term Rag and Bone Man that was used in the UK when I was young can be found here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rag-and-bone_man The BBC TV show, Steptoe and Son was a pretty good take off of the Rag'n Bone Man. https://youtu.be/y4T0_GyzEgg
