A group of Chao Pae or fish farmers living on rafts in Uthai Thani sought help from local fishery officials today (December 2) as the decreasing water level in Sakaekrang River has landed their vessels on clay dunes.

It has also affected fish kept in 474 floating baskets with many death due to lack of oxygen. This has caused losses to more than 100 farmers.

A team from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security surveyed the damages and 107 farmers have registered for help.

Uthai Thani's Provincial Fisheries Office, meanwhile, suggested that during this period, farmers should stop fish-farming in the river as the oxygen level decreases in the absence of circulation.

Farmers were also advised to cut down on feeding to lessen waste in the baskets.

This sounds like a really sad story for these poor farmers. I have a couple of questions, though!

The first ones regarding their vessels. Did they suddenly from one evening to the morning after just stand on land instead of water? Was there nobody that saw that the water was sinking fast, and put their vessel more far from the shore?

For second regarding the floating baskets and the dead fish. Was it not also here possible for the farmers to see that the water level was sinking and they need to move the basket further out in the water before the fishes dies?

If a person work with something, they usually go to work every morning and have to check up their products. As a person running an own business with living products, there is no excuse that it has been new year. You must always check up your business. That´s the responsibility that comes with the freedom of beeing your own boss.

Who will come next begging for help (money)

Rice farmers, rubber Producer, now fisher, taxi drivers,

But they are somehow right.

This government is meant for grabbing and secure their power but not for giving guide lines for the economic future.

The former King's farms had been s mile stone for developing fruits, plants and veggies. Farmers learnt there how to cultivate their plants.

The government is now to show the farmers the opportunities on growing organic food and the way to export, e.g. in EU.
