They have a constantly updated section on their home page which shows any predicted Radio blackouts, Solar Radiation Storms or Geomagnetic Storms - it also shows nothing. No news service anywhere is reporting this, as far as I can tell. If it were happening it would surely be headline news everywhere, given that a coronal mass ejection could black out radio transmissions, damage satellites and electrical power grids, and cause potentially massive and long-term power outages worldwide. I am not certain how long updates usually take, The images from the information I shared were being reviewed from the lasco feed. They were brand new as of the time of the video. I am not sure if this cme will even impact us as far as electrical disturbances, and it might hit when we are facing the dark sky, so we may be missed entirely in our region. If you're trying to link these to a solar event, that doesn't seem to be recorded on the SOHO Spaceweather website, then you need to explain the complete lack of any correlation when reviewing long term data. That there have been two +6 magnitude events today is no more than coincidental. The data speaks for itself. People who ignore or cherry pick data are not scientists. samuttodd
More interesting stuff ELECTRICITY SURGES THROUGH THE SOIL OF NORWAY: Yesterday, Jan. 6th, something unexpected happened in the soil of northern Norway. "Electrical currents started flowing," reports Rob Stammes, who monitors ground currents at the Polarlightcenter geophysical observatory in Lofoten. This chart recording shows the sudden surge around 1930 UT: [link to www.spaceweather.com (secure)] [link to www.spaceweather.com (secure)] NASA's ACE spacecraft detected something as well. About 15 minutes before the disturbance in Norway, the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) near Earth abruptly swung around 180 degrees, and the solar wind density jumped more than 5-fold. Earth may have crossed through a fold in the heliospheric current sheet--a giant, wavy membrane of electrical current rippling through the solar system. Such crossings can cause these kind of effects. the earth sun relationship is that of capacitor conductor, as is all of outer space. high pressure comes from above, low comes from below. in times of solar maximum the sun charges the earth, in times of solar minimum, the earth recharges the sun. in times of deep solar minimum, the cosmic forcing charges both. swissie
Recent earthquakes and volcanic action were forecast by absolutely nobody. Outside of the 11 year (known) "solar activity cycle", nothing exceptional can be expected from the sun. A very stable atomic reactor, bubbling along within it's predictable laws of physics. In about 4 billon years it will become "unstable". That will be the time when we will have to start worrying about our sun.

GroveHillWanderer
I think I'm going to call BS on this. There's no mention of an upcoming CME that I can find on any space weather-related site - or any other kind of news site for that matter. The 3-day forecast on the NOAA's Space Weather Prediction site shows absolutely nothing unusual is expected by January 11. The earthquakes mentioned are also nothing unusual - they represent a perfectly normal level of seismic activity. Also, the two earthquakes in Iran are not 'powerful' earthquakes. A temblor of that magnitude is characterised as, "Often felt, but only causes minor damage." Edited January 9, 2020 by GroveHillWanderer
