Is it anyone else, exept TAT that have the idea that India is filled of rich people?

Indians who travel across the globe and other indians and westerners who are jealous of them. Do you know Indian economy is equivalent to that of UK and France?? Long gone are the days when you were told India is a third world country.

Ah, we're back on the wine and handbags.

Well the Chinese buy hand bags and other luxury goods by the truckful. Just look at the tax reclaim queues in Siam for instance, almost exclusively Chinese. You see homegoing Chinese in the airport check-ins they've all got huge boxes that they didn't arrive with. Todays exclusive, low class Chinese holiday in China.

Wine? Pah! The Chinese dont go on holiday to buy imported wine. They can do that in China. Who would? You want a wine holiday go to a wine producing country. You know. coals to Newcastle and all that. Mohammed to the Mountain. 'Excuse me Waiter, do you have the Chateau Nong Khai 89 by any chance?'

Nonsense.

So if it is as you say, why do TAT think they have to go to India and try to find new tourists? is it just a trip for fun or?

He said that Indians were already familiar with places like Bangkok and Pattaya but interest in Phuket, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui was growing.

With the exception of Bangkok for obvious reasons, I now know where to stay away from. Likely marketing these same places to the Chinese?

Can someone fix this article and the usual typos in the numbers?

"Led by commitee chief Tosserporn Sirisampan, MCOT said the group expects Indians to spend a whopping 1.1 billion baht in Thailand this year.  They reckoned that 1.95 million visited in 2019."

If 1.95 million Indians spend 1.1 billion Baht, that's a measly 565 baht per person???

There's established markets and there's growing markets. No doubt Thailand will be represented at the Guangzhou Travel Expo in February too in China targeting the 7m new passport holders that have emerged in the last 12 months. That's their job, and this article shows them doing it despite the detritus showered on them here.

Do you know what the best thing about having more Indians in Bangkok is?  No, seriously .. do you?

Because I sure don't!

Well the more there are, the more the likelihood that one will will overhear the rabid racism from people such as you and then hand out some street justice.

Because it's a pound to a pinch of sch!t that you'd never say that to an Indian guy in the street.

I dont want to argue but where was that tree located?? India.

And when the term India is used in these contexts, it doesn't always mean the current geographical boundaries of the Republic of India. India has always been a civilization full of immense knowledge and great wealth. India may also mean the lands where Indic/Indian culture was prevalent and that has always covered the current geographical area of the country of nepal. So it is not 100% factually wrong in saying Gautam Buddha was Indian. The current geographical boundaries didnt exist then and it was different back then

You might want to read this to correct your misconception.

If its true what Tat is trying to achieve and promote CM, and the do start to visit, you will have a different outlook, in pattaya, they walk around the city with beer in hand (allbeit 1 beer between 6) they hassle the bar girls, the guys walk round in groups of 6 or more, a friend of mine staying in a pattaya hotel had 6 sleeping in the next double room, and decided to party at 5am with indian music on full blast, he had to get security and finally they were told to vacate the hotel.

I see more Indians in Chiang Mai. No groups of men, only couples and families. Nothing to complain about them. No difference to western tourists. Ok, one difference - they never walk with bottles of beer in their hands through the city.

Wait until they arrive in droves, I think you will change your mind.

Can't deny the group or herd mentality.  Very common. And the haggling and hassling and price negotiation, or trying to get a group discount with ladies or ladyboys is legendary.  I have yet to see any amount of Indians in any of the gogos along walking street.  Although on my last trip in July I did see some Indian lounge advertising Indian dancers?  I assume there are similar places around town that cater or will be catering to Indians.

Was at Icon Siam on the weekend to watch the water show. There was a group tour of about 400 Indian's being lead to ferry boats. What got me there was no women with them. They were well behaved and stinking of cologne.

Never see them causing trouble, never see them receiving beat downs, like other western nationalities.

Very rich Indians are more likely to visit other destinations.

Agreed, but I read it as they hope Indian visitors will spend a collective billion baht in the country as opposed to attracting Indians worth a billion baht.
