webfact
Bang Saen mayor blows a fuse! Tourist vandals may have annoyed the wrong person Thai caption: Hunt on for table vandals Thai media reported that the mayor of Saen Suk district responsible for Bang Saen district had blown a fuse on social media after vandals damaged a number of tables and seats at the beach. He is part of an influential family well known in Thailand. Narongchai Khunpluem said that the people responsible were probably drunk and lamented the fact that CCTV was not installed there yet. 77kaoded suggested that tourists were responsible and went to the scene to investigate. Some repairs had been made and some damaged items had been taken away as evidence. Picture: 77kaoeded Local seafood seller Patchamon, 44, reckoned those responsible had been drinking there at night. She had never seen the like of it. There were bottles of lao khao (a Thai white spirit) found smashed at the scene. The people responsible may have angered the wrong person. Mayor Narongchai is part of the family of former Saen Suk mayor Somchai Khunpluem known as "Kamnan Poh" or the "Godfather of Chonburi" who died last year. He was convicted in 2004 of having a man shot and later jumped bail. Another member of the family is Sontaya Khunpluem, the mayor of Pattaya since 2018 and a political adviser of Thai prime minister Prayut Chan-ocha. Popular Post CelticBhoy
I wonder if this is a story to draw attention to the work of some vandals or if it is a story to remind anyone reading it that the 'mafia' family of Kamnan Poh are still in control of this area. 8

Popular Post darksidedog
Lacking evidence of who did it, this seems like just further denial of the truth so close to home. It comes back to the "local people couldnt have done this," so it is automatic to lay the blame off on soneone else. 11
Popular Post BritManToo
I see two damaged tables in the photo, those usually cost 300-500bht each including the 4 benches. This appears to be part of the ongoing government/media campaign against foreigners. It's too trivial to be news. What next, foreigner lets dog poop on the sidewalk? 3 3

Yeah! Ride on, dude! That´s definitely a sign of tourists. It tells me that this was done by the normal moronic bunch of Thai boys that can´t handle the liquer. I´ll bet they took selfies and pictures of each other while doing it too, so they after can look at it, laugh and fell like real men. johng
Another website says it was "Foreign tourists" and no mention of Laa Kow ( white spirit ) Quote 44 year old Ms. Patchamon Saekuay who is a food vendor at Bangsaen Beach and a witness told The Pattaya News she saw in the early morning foreign tourists were sitting there and drinking heavily. She did not know where the tourists were from. She is not sure if they had a physical altercation, she told officers. Nearby, Police found many broken alcohol bottles and signs of a potential fight. Other witnesses have allegedly come forward also stating a group of intoxicated foreign tourists were responsible. Maybe Burmese,Cambodian or Lao toursits ??????? Popular Post CNXexpat
Perhaps he means that it´s impossible that someone who is living in this area has done this, so it must be a tourist. For sure a Thai tourist because nobody else would drink Lao Khao.

Popular Post Roy Baht
This is what happens when everyone is saturated in the "foreigners are criminals" rhetoric that flows through the media here everyday now. A crime is committed and the first thought is "Must be a foreigner"--and everybody else agrees. Hell, at one point they were blaming the Lopburi shooting on a foreigner.

Have the police checked the bottles for fingerprints? Surely they can compare them with the fingerprints on the Thai ID system or those on the biometric passport system - assuming they have any?
