webfact
Building bridges? MP proposes that one to Koh Samui be named "Chan O-cha Bridge"! Picture: PPTV A Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) MP from Nakhon Sri Thammarat has suggested that a bridge linking the mainland with Koh Samui should be named the "Chan O-cha Bridge" after Thai prime minister Prayut. Sayan Yuthitham was speaking in the House of Representatives yesterday, noted PPTV. The PPRP is known to have close links with the government of the PM. He said that traffic to the holiday island had been appalling over the holidays and there were only two ferry ports. A bridge should be built from Khanom, he said, echoing many such suggestions over the years and ones made as recently as last month. He said there were precedents - Pote Sarasin (an acting PM in the 1950s) had one between Phangnga and Phuket named after him just as soon as he came into office. And one (in Songkhla in the south) had been named after former 1980s Thai PM and Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanond who died last year. So why not Lung Too or Uncle Too, too. SoilSpoil
Khanom beach is one of the best beaches in the country, with pods of dolphins swimming around. Hope this bridge will be one too far.

A good few names spring to mind that this MP could be named, none of them are very polite though, so I will refrain! ???? 1

Popular Post CFCol
These people need a brain transplant. The tourism minister was approached by hoteliers during a visit to Samui last month and asked for a bridge to be considered yet again to promote tourism. The only thing the hoteliers need to do to promote tourism is Reduce Their Prices and the only thing the government needs to do is devalue the bhat. A bridge will not increase tourism but only increase traffic on Samui's already congested roads. Not to mention costing the jobs of the seamen who operate the ferries.
