Building bridges? MP proposes that one to Koh Samui be named "Chan O-cha Bridge"!

A Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) MP from Nakhon Sri Thammarat has suggested that a bridge linking the mainland with Koh Samui should be named the "Chan O-cha Bridge" after Thai prime minister Prayut.

Sayan Yuthitham was speaking in the House of Representatives yesterday, noted PPTV.

The PPRP is known to have close links with the government of the PM.

He said that traffic to the holiday island had been appalling over the holidays and there were only two ferry ports.

A bridge should be built from Khanom, he said, echoing many such suggestions over the years and ones made as recently as last month.

He said there were precedents - Pote Sarasin (an acting PM in the 1950s) had one between Phangnga and Phuket named after him just as soon as he came into office.

And one (in Songkhla in the south) had been named after former 1980s Thai PM and Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanond who died last year.

So why not Lung Too or Uncle Too, too.

"... to be named Chan O-Cha Bridge. Now, we are all very tired after working so hard. We have to take a nap."

Now there's a proper rogues gallery. I wonder what their brown envelopes add up to...

It's a nice name : uncle too, too ...Why not ?  :giggle: or Yinn POTY 2019 ?

I hope that they will give the construction concession to one or more countries which know how to make long bridges:
USA, Japan, China, France why not?
We have a magnificent work of art with the Millau viaduct which is a highway bridge; the Dutch too have mastered the construction of large-scale works of art

But if named “Yinn Bridge”, it might disappear like Yinn did after being built !

Terrific structure. And to think it took a shorter time to construct than Chalong underpass in sunny Phuket
