Did you end up comparing it with the Panasonic or did you just go for the Sony?

Yes I did compare, one thing put me off the Panasonic was that all the USB and HDMI connections were at the back, very awkward to access, whereas the Sony has them on the side. Only a small thing, but it was a decider.

Went for the x8000G model in the end.

Wasn't for me but I did the research.

A good middle of the road model I think.

I have a larger, older Sony.

Very happy with the brand.

Previously had a Samsung that died, so I won't go there.

Rtings is one of the better review websites around.

The model numbers can vary though.

Here is a review of the Sony:

They've also just reviews the best 55 inch Tv's.

Here's one on the Panasonic

What are your impressions of the Sony? Probably should have asked you before I bought it.

It wasn't for me but I did install it.

Good picture, Apps easy to use and the remote is well set out.

At the end of the day, not a lot of difference in good

brands at around the same price range.

I'm also really happy with my Sony set.

I'm a Sony fan so may be a bit biased though.

Thanks, I don't get it delivered until tomorrow, but I took some movies on flash drive to try and they looked pretty good. I'm basically only going to use it to watch downloaded movies, rarely watch Youtube and can't be bothered with a whole heap of apps. A basic non-smart TV would have probably done the job.

it's quite a sucker tbh compared to 8 series TCL and new HiSense, sony just can't compete in the same price ranges imo.

They are quite notorious for beeing lagging:

Sony just absolutely sucks at everything Software related, it's a shame.

It's basically a repacked x8200E from 2017.

Well the TCL didn't exactly perform well either, wouldn't hold the cable channels, even though a cheap set top box would. As far as lag on the Sony, not sure if that will concern me as only using it to watch movies through my external hard drive.

I only use 1 App for Australian sport.

90% of the time its used for watching movies from a USB stick.

Give me Sony's reliability any day.

Yeah, first thing I will have to do is either delete or hide all the pre-installed apps, it's just overkill.
