Constitutional Court ruling sought on passage of FY2020 budget

President of the National Assembly Chuan Leekpai on Thursday (January 23), submitted a request to the Constitutional Court, seeking its ruling on the verification of the Bt3.2 trillion budget bill for fiscal year 2020 after two Bhumjaithai MPs (Chalong Toedweerapong and Natee Ratchakitprakarn) were accused of casting their vote without being present during the voting process.

Farmers burning sugarcane face additional fees for milling their crop

Sugarcane growers, who burn their crops before harvesting, will be charged 30 baht/tonne for the burnt sugarcane delivered to sugar mills, while the mills will be levied 12 baht/tonne for accepting burnt cane exceeding the set limits.

GENEVA/BEIJING (Reuters) - The World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Thursday it was "a bit too early" to declare a new coronavirus a global health emergency as China put millions of people on lockdown amid an outbreak that has killed 18 people and infected more than 630.

PHUKET: A small ferry operating between Phuket and Koh Yao Yao, off Phuket’s east coast, has been suspended from operating after a pickup truck that was not tied down rolled off the boat and into the sea off Koh Siray yesterday afternoon (Jan 22).
