China increases water release to help Mekong basin countries

China has agreed to increase the rate of water release from Lan Chang River from 850 cubic metres per second to 1000 cubic metres per second in order to meet the urgent needs of Thailand and other countries in the Mekong River Basin.

PHUKET: A man and a woman died on Thepkrsattri Rd in Mai Khao yesterday afternoon (Jan 23) after the motorbike they were riding drifted into the central reservation and slammed into a tree, with the impact tearing the motorbike into pieces.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Tourist arrivals in Thailand rose 2.48% in December from a year earlier, following an increase of 5.92% the previous month, the tourism ministry said in a statement on Friday.

PHUKET:-- A Cambodian man who lived in Phuket for 30 years, most of that time by using a fake ID card, has been arrested for illegally staying in the country, Immigration Bureau Chief Pol Lt Gen Sompong Chingduang announced at a press conference in Bangkok today (Jan 24).
