Popular Post newnative
Should have banned anyone from Wuhan from entering the country after the first cases--as a start. Thailand is the most at risk because it gets the most Chinese visitors. As always, money before anything else, including public safety. Didn't some dingbat spokesperson from TAT say the other week don't worry it won't be a problem? Let's assign her nurse duties for the 5--and counting--patients.

There are conflicting opinions from different scientific groups. Some say quite categorically that it can not be transmitted during incubation and others state that they don't know for sure. Isaan sailor
Not surprised the regime takes no blame in this. They opened the Chinese Pandora’s box with free visas and special promotions enticing millions of Chinese to arrive here every month. And Thailand has become Wuhan’s favorite vacation destination...

Popular Post Kerryd
There'll be a lot of panic and alarmist rhetoric and in the end the outbreak will be contained and the actual death toll will be a couple hundred people. Maybe. Remember the SARS outbreak ? Total death toll - 800 people around the world. The MERS outbreak ? Under 200. The Bird Flu ? Worldwide since 2013 - just over 600 deaths. Even the Ebola outbreak from 2014-2016 only claimed about 15 people outside of the 3 West African countries most affected by the outbreak. So about 1,600 deaths worldwide from those 4 epidemics in 6(ish) years (not counting the Ebola victims in those African countries). About the same as 35-40 days of traffic fatalities in Thailand on average. Not going to panic about this just like I didn't about the last 4 major outbreaks (and a dozen or so "end of the world" prophecies that never came true). 6

How would you know what drug to take? The woman, who had taken a normal over-the-counter anti-pyretic (reports didn't say which one, but aspirin or paracetamol would do) was found not to have the novel coronavirus. She just had a slight fever and had taken an anti-pyretic to reduce her fever, that's all. Edited January 25, 2020 by GroveHillWanderer
