Popular Post rooster59
After days of concern, Bangkok air quality now ‘excellent’ By THE NATION The Pollution Control Department (PCD) has reported air quality in Bangkok and neighbouring provinces are at "excellent" to "moderate" levels with PM2.5 under the safety standard used by the department. As of 7am on Saturday (January 25), the average particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) in the air was around 16 to 46 micrograms per cubic metre, which is below the department’s safety standard of 50µg/m3. However, it is still over the safety standard of the World Health Organization of 25 µg/m3 in a 24-hour mean. Charts from the PCD show that air quality in Bangkok is mostly in "blue" (excellent) and "green" (good) levels, while certain districts such as Wangthonglang and Bang Kho Laem were "yellow", which means the air quality is at a moderate level. The department said that all outdoor activities are safe for all groups. People can monitor the PM2.5 situation through Air4Thai.com, ‘Air4Thai’ mobile application, and bangkokairquality.com. Popular Post wasabi
I was just in Phuket. Now that was some 'excellent' air quality. I would not say BKK air is excellent but there is some improvement. I know simply pulling off black exhaust belching cars from the road is NOT enough but it is at least a step in the right direction.

Popular Post crazygreg44
the better air quality in Bangkok has absolutely nothing to do with any measures they did impose or did not impose. The reason lies in the change of the prevalent wind direction. During most of last weeks, the wind was coming straight from the East, which means it brought haze from Cambodia and the smokescreen of the burning sugarcane field around Prachinburi and Chachoengsao. since yesterday the winds have turned and now are blowing into Bangkok mostly from the Bay of Bangkok, from the open sea, from southeast and southwest. You can look at the wind directions in the airvisual map and see for yourself. Not the government, but the WEATHER GODS caused cleaner air in Bangkok ! https://www.airvisual.com/thailand Now Prachinburi gets all the haze from Cambodia, as do we where we live near the Cambodian border at Kantharalak. The Air quality there is AQI 150 thru 160 Edited January 25, 2020 by crazygreg44 14

Popular Post unamazedloso
More BS! People are on holiday so less burning. And its been since Jan1st that Kanchanaburi has been over 100 pm2.5 everyday until today. Was windy last night and just blew it along and virtually no sugar cane burning took place that i could see last night. No government input at all just as they planned but it will be back!! Who wants to make a bet????? For reference its 80 wher ei am in Kanchanaburi. Still incredibly toxic but the lowest its been since new year. I thought fake news is bad and the government are cracking down but they appear to be the ones making it round the clock. 3

Naturesway
They have realized it’s much easier to change the truth than change the mind of ppl and the vehicles and their habits and everything would needed to change the air quality. If every ppl would have the same careless selfish mindset in the world like ppl have here the earth would be much more crucial today.

LALes
Still not out of the woods, yet. February is usually the worst smog month in BKK. Hopefully, the south winds will stick around for awhile but its still way too early to rely on that. Edited January 25, 2020 by LALes Clarification. Popular Post bagheera65
It happens that i made studies a long time ago of Chinese energetic medicine ( also known as acupuncture ), now i’m going to make a long story short but here is the reason why there was almost NO wind during the last three weeks and WHY the wind came back yesterday: The Chinese new year happen the second new moon of the year and marks in fact the beginning of the “energetic year”, which has four different type of energies going one after another all year long also known as the four elements ( Wood, Fire, Metal and Water ). The first energy is the one of the Spring, the Wood element, and among a lot of others specs, in terms of “weather” the “Wood” IS the wind, meaning that when the energy of the Spring ( the Wood ) starts at the moment of the Chinese new year, the wind is coming back after nearly one month of almost no wind at all. And these cosmic energies are always “on time”, if i can say, usually even one or two days in advance as it happens this year, as it happened last year, and the year before, etc... Now, why is there no wind three weeks before the Chinese new year, each January? Because between each energy there is always three weeks of “Earth” energy, to bring back the energy of the season at the center. And the Earth element is basically “death”, nothing move. Now, when we are in January, these three weeks of Earth element comes during a season ruled by the “Water” energy, which is the winter - though as we know winter in Thailand doesn’t really look like winter in Europe. But for those of you who lived real winters you know that winter is also the moment of the year where everything is dead - trees lose their leaves, nothing grow in the fields, the harsh cold weather keeps everyone at home, patiently waiting for the start of the Spring …to re-birth, to live again. When we have three weeks of Earth energy during the winter season, it’s just like if you were putting death over death, it’s the highest point of the year during which everything is “dead”. And of course when everything is dead, there is hardly no wind at all …until the Chinese new year happen and the Spring energy starts and bring back the wind. Now, i suppose some of you will think that’s nuts without having ever study a thousand years medicine, an one of the most subtle which exist, but remember this: next year, if you want to know WHEN the pollution will be at its highest, check the date on which will be the Chinese new year in 2021, then get out of Bangkok or even Thailand - and if possible even Asia as the pollution problem is the same almost all over Asia - during the three weeks, or even one month BEFORE the date of the Chinese New Year, and you will avoid the worst pollution. Or find a place which is an island, like Phuket which still had high numbers off air quality but still more than half than what we had in Bangkok thanks to the islands micro-climate and always having more winds. 1
