Read again........"it has been said" and "seems to be pretty well confirmed".

No it hasn't been pretty well confirmed. They believe it emanates from wild animals but at the current stage they do not know which one and how.

OK, maybe a play on words in my post, but the following make interesting reading and the expert believes that bats play/played a big role in this as they did in the SARS outbreak.

Experts think the Wuhan coronavirus jumped from bats to snakes to people. Bats have been the source of at least 4 pandemics.

And this article is interesting…………

What was confirmed is that the genetic code is 96% similar to cave bat coronavirus and only about 80% similar to SARS, which went through Civets.  This led some to suggest it may have come directly from bats. Snakes are out last I saw.

A new study of 27 genomes from 27 patients tracing initial evolution strongly suggests a single animal to human event occurred after which all transmission has been human to human. Very different from earlier talk.

What do you mean 'if'? This is the 6th confirmed victim so there's been a 'confirmed outbreak' already.

Right now we're only seeing someone who contracted the virus in China and traveled to Hua Hin.

If people in and around Hua Hin are infected and start to become ill then we have a new outbreak.

Pretty simple really, right now we merely have a few separate isolated cases ????

We are seeing an incredible amount of noise in the various 'twitterspheres'. And a lot of what are surely shocking real live footage of what happens when you abandon a city of 11 million people. We also have no doubt ,troll farms with agendas (US, Hong Kong democracy activists, anarchist and lolz 4chan dweebs and many others) that are amplifying and feeding the frenzy with cut and paste pastiches of hair-raising videos.

This is what an unprecedented authoritarian state response epidemic looks like in an age of 24/7 social  media. It doesn't mean yet that we are all going to die or that we are all doomed to die a horrible, lingering death. The less of this that is spread the better for all of us.

I had thought TVF's anti-Twitter moderation policy to be sometime antediluvian in the age of 'always on' but I now appreciate it for what it is. Information , filtered , analyzed and processed through reputable agents is infinitely preferable to some fat bird in Arkansas with twisted loon ideas and a YT account spreading garbage into a sea of sewage with some heightened concept of insider knowledge known to only a privileged few.

Rant over.

Well on the global map Aust got them quarantined.

Who does these maps? Last week there was bushfires same place so we have a sick Chinese walking around in a burnt out desert. Hard to know how you have a bushfire in a desert but that beside the point.
